Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in responses. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon said, life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

I show my dad my new winter coat
I raise my arms 360
so he can see the back too.
He unzips it and peers inside
like a cop patting down a felon,
inspecting the coat like he's buying a horse,
checking the teeth and hooves,
and the zip-up pockets.
I hand him my printed stories and poems,
he puts his reading glasses on
and I'm twelve years old again
and he's helping me with my maths homework,
I never could get the hang of maths,
words not numbers always came more easily.
He likes my story as it has a beginning,
a middle and an end, but we disagree
if a word should be one word.
two words, or hyphenated.
Then comes the real test,
two glasses and a bottle of single malt whiskey.
We sip the fiery liquor,
sighing in delight as our throats burn.

I have been unable to post for a while, getting a 403 error message when I tried. I have tried again now, typing straight onto the site, rather than copying from my word doc etc. Anyway, it worked. So hopefully I'll be able to post in the same way going forward. Thanks to Dave for the nudge. π
I go through a bit lengthier process thanks to occurrences at a cherished poetry forum about 12 or 13 years ago. All my work is scribbled on paper initially, typed in an offline file or these days email draft, and then posted online. Ergo, copy and paste, both for my records as well as formatting, etc.
Yeah, I do the same. I write things in my notebook, then type up into a word doc. I would then copy and paste on to this site, but now I have to type up again on here. The main thing is it works. π
Oh, good! I'm thankful!
You burning up?! lol. Yes, try reboot sometimes if getting 403 message.
Hi Orchi, I tried all sorts of things, tried it on different devices etc, but was still getting this message. Tried again typing straight onto the site. And hey presto, it worked. Fingers crossed it is all sorted.
Then loosens out the real opinions once the drinks have had their way.
Oh yes! My dad and I share a love of books, ale and whiskey. π Thanks for your comments.
No worries TD, good to see you back. I was out for about a year, PC problems⦠now just slugging away on my mobile phone!
Thanks a lot for that. Really appreciated.
That single malt whisky - should go down as smooth as silk - with just two tiny drops of pure water added.
PS Ask Andy for his recommendation - and then take no noticeπ
Thanks, Dave. Yeah, we discuss my latest story and poems and then have a well-deserved drop of whiskey. π Thanks as always, mate.
Ah, what I cherish about this veritable beauty is the delightful attention to details. How richly laden to effect! Charmingly rendered with excellent imagery and a winsome poignancy. Thank you very much for sharing!

Thanks a lot, Andy. I'll drink to that! π
The father son relationship carries on regardless of age. Some things are set in cement
