Her only desire, to feel loved
Poisoned by tea of oleander
Squeezed flower from his heart shoved
By the very one that Eros had willed her
Toxin of a beautiful flower
Passion dried between pages of time
Neglected milk left to sour
Her abandonment was her crime
Drink deep, years of pain
After age's hour
Dreams have become a stain
Chronos hope did devour

I will give KP oleander tea! lol.
She might like it, quite bitter you know. Thanks so much Orchi
As usual so much to digest so much metaphor, I'm going for the shrub today dreams dying or flowers, to me your beauty is in each. πΉ
Thank you Teddy I always appreciate your reads and interpretations, they come as a fresh breeze. Indeed beauty is in each.
Wow! In this I read the journey of a woman whose sole desire was to be loved. This desire, however, led her into a toxic relationship, symbolized by the poison tea. I have often wondered what leads one to be attracted to toxic people, but that really oversimplifies relationships and how they progress. In fact, that stands out in this poem: the progression shows how initial passion fades over time, leaving her abandoned and disillusioned. There is a sense of resignation in the final stanza, the years of pain having accumulated and hopes having been devoured by time (Chronos). This, my friend, is image-rich and a wonderful poetic expression. Loved the inclusion of Eros and Chronos too! πΉπ
Thank you so much Tristan for the read and interpretation that reflects what I had in mind when writting. Your words are highly esteemed and valued
You are welcome, my friend!
Imagine developing a resistance to toxins or even turning toxic herselfβ¦ how utterly possibly horrible. Fantastic poem! ππ»ππ»π
Thanks Cryptic for the read and comment.
A joyous use of this rich language of ours = a delghtful, albeit sombre, read.
Thaank you so much Michael for the read and kind words
This is quite sad.Certainly a well constructed poem. I see a aging beauty here.
Thank you so much David your words mean a great deal
How sad that this relationship should turn toxic with the years. Not uncommon these days and it appears to be her own fault. I looked up oleander, a plant I didnβt know much about only to discover just how poisonous it is. The metaphor works well here sorenbarrett. Another fab write.
Thank you so much Cassie your interpretation and read are most valued. Tea time with oleander is like the movie Arsenic and old lace, not for the faint of heart.
Powerful poem,
poignant and pain filled too!!π’
A "poisonous" romance

Thank for sharing my friend!! πβΊοΈ

For poisons there is an antidote the same for relationships. Thanks for the read and kind words of support
I love poems about poisons, and the flower being part of it is amazing
Thank you for the read and kind words. For every thing toxic there is a flower some simply lure us into a trap others fill our lives with beauty.
Beautifully heartbreaking.
Thank you for your read and kind words they are most important
Emotive words soren but I am sure Chronos will bring all goodness and love in time.
Andy
