Please hear me Jesus
I know you love me
And you know that I love you
But sometimes
I just don’t know what to do
My life has always been
In need of confidence
I didn’t know how
To have faith in myself
I didn’t know what it meant
To believe in myself
The key to unlocking
And opening every door
My father wanted
So much more for me
Hard for him to know what I wanted
When even I didn’t know myself
All I ever wanted
Was to be not better than anyone else
Just better than I was
The best that I could be
Better at sports
To know my friendships were real
For the girl who lives in my heart
Was happy to be there
A chosen career making me successful
I don’t know why I couldn’t see
What I needed to see
The answer to all my questions
Still, I feel that blindness
Unsure of myself
The final missing piece
Of an unfinished puzzle
I don’t expect anything
Of which I don’t deserve
I feel like I’m in between
The extremes of indecision
Even these words I now write
I don’t know why
I Ask of You Jesus

It is hard to make a decision when one doesn't understand. An existential write.
Thanks soren, just one of those thought processes that led to my asking Jesus for understanding.
Not being remotely religious, I do know that this poem is a one of deep thought from you. So incredibly emotional dear A.P. 🌹
I know some are not religious, and some are very religious. And either way, every person has a right to believe as they wish. I guess I'm somewhere in the middle, as I believe in God, Jesus and Heaven. And yes, I was in a very deep thought process that led me to asking Jesus for help in understanding. What started me thinking down this path was listening to the George Harrison song I posted here of "Hear Me Lord". I love the piano riff and it just sort of lifts me up and carries me to a feeling of being open to hearing hopefully what I need to hear. I don't presume to know the answers to life, but I'm listening. Thanks Dear Teddy. 🫂🌹
A prayer. I used to be religious, but not anymore. To be truthful, I still wish I had a faith. I hope your prayers are always heard and answered AP and your faith stays strong and comforts you. I am a huge fan of George Harrison. I live close to his old home in Henley. I go and stand outside the gates now and then. A prayer from your heart. Have a good weekend.
Thank you Cassie. I too am a huge George Harrison fan. I never really thought about who my favorite Beatle was when I was younger. But in the years since and with all their songs, Paul obviously would be the most productive, but he was known as the workaholic. But my favorite would be George because of George's quality of songs. I especially love the one I have posted here. I love the piano riff. You're very fortunate to live near where George lived. I've always felt inspired by George. And thank you Cassie for the prayers. May you have a very nice weekend too. We're supposed to get 6 to 8 inches of snow. Oh boy. 🙄
George was my favourite too:) Keep warm if you get that snow AP. 🙂
Got it (4 inches) and dealt with it accordingly. Ready for the next one. 😉👍
I am not religious but i can feel the authors faith strongly in this piece, asking questions many of us ask, just for a better understanding of who we are and what we are, so we can move forward. Also inspired by a very talented artist who wrote some wonderful songs, enjoyed the read
He's a favorite of mine. Thanks Poetic. 👍
You are very welcome
A thoughtful write AP. I prefer 'spiritual' or 'believing' to 'religious'. It's OK to give up being 'religious', I think - though Christianity is one religion. But we could religiously follow a football team, or hobby, or whatever. Yes, a prayer here that I believe will be answered. 🙂
The answer to my prayer about KP is: 'You should never have married here in the first place! lol.
Thanks Orchi. And that's a very good answer. You should have stayed home the day you met KP. 😉
A fine write, AP
Thanks for the read and compliment Jerry. 😉👍
The path we have walked in our lives AP, will eventually take us to the place we need to be where peace, love and tranquility within ourselves is born.
Andy
I believe you are right Andy. Thanks for the read and comment. 😉👍
