The battle started once more,
Over so many years they came,
That time back in Hastings
In ten sixty-six they first came
And won the battle.
Throughout time they have come,
The French have come,
Our enemies forever.
But they came once more,
They came and tried again
But this time it was different,
As at the end of the Battle,
The Battle of Twickenham,
The English defeated them,
Defeated those damn Frenchies
By winning the match,
Winning the Rugby match,
Beating them in the last minute
Giving England a marvellous win.

Good write Gold. Yes, I'm to blame for the French victory in 1066. If only I hadn't turned up! lol.
It wasn't yopur fault - if I recall the hot dog stall got in the way of the archers but their arrows proved a big ''hit'' with the sugar candy vendors as they'd run out of sticks.
Yes lol.
So true Orchi. thank you.

History can be a good laugh - if you give it the right amount of irony - well manufactured, Sir.
So true, most kind Dave, thank you.

Yes, and your point ably made, yet I can't help still lamenting my stupidity in failing to choose that romantic language when forced to pick a second language in highschool. Excellently rendered with delightful good humour, lovely imagery, and an irresistible winsomeness. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for your comments Missy, much appreciated.
