How soon we forget

sorenbarrett

The sun too hot with melting rays
Gives warmth in winter's cold
Memories lost under summer's days
Sweat washes away thoughts of old

Burnt skin blistered under desert sky
Pain prevents thoughts of yesterday
Mirages under the sky of July
A season's advantages thrown away

Come the night and its frigid cold
Lost remembrances now return
Past sun burning bright, heat undersold
Under a cold blanketing heaven one prefers to burn

Now that is where the circuits jumble and fry, only to return to that state once the overpowering present stimuli leaves ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Your poem explores the complexities of human memory and emotion, emphasizing how seasonal experiences shape our perceptions and feelings. It invites readers to reflect on their own experiences with the seasons and the memories they evoke.
Overall, your poem seems to capture the interplay between warmth and cold, both physically and emotionally, inviting contemplation on how these elements shape our lives and memories

            Soren,
How soon we forget, indeed. Always thinking that another season is better than the one we are in now. Forgetting the hardships of that season at the altar of the season we face now. Failing to see the good days of this season for the clouded memories of โ€œthe good old days.โ€ Itโ€™s time to stop the madness and enjoy the moments of right here and right now. Thanks for stirring my heart and thought towards the present.

                  Hello,

For me this seemed a multi layered poem where there is more than what meets the eyes. It seemed an unfolding of a period perhaps a day though at the same time it could be a week month or season. As each cycle opens it ends only into new beginnings. Each grain of sand in the hourglass is renewed again. I enjoyed the read! Greetings and blessings,
                  R

                  • sorenbarrett

Very perceptive, yes there can be more than one layer in this poem. I thank you very much for the read and observation. Your encouragement is most appreciated.

One prefers to burn "under a cold blanketing heaven." Marvelous, my friend. I so get this and relate to in so many ways. This is that type of poem that enters the soul and speaks to the person where they are. Wonderful job on this! ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ‘
