TEETOTAL
Alcoholism strikes many fears
a terrible condition I tried to combat
I was teetotal for 15 years
but my 16th birthday changed all that.

Glad to have you back, Michael. Was wondering where youβd gone off to and what became of you. Hereβs wishing you well and your full recovery. Good youβre back with us ππ»π
Many thanks - feeling a tad sorry for myself but on the road to recovery.
Been through a bit of that early this month but gradually getting out of the woods. Hope our company brings you some diversion and comfort as well. For me writing and interacting helps.ππ»ποΈ
Very funny write, wishing you a good and speedy recovery
Thanks PL
You are very welcome
Oops! Good write M. lol. Good wishes to you.
This poems power comes in its surprises. Set up well with the expected becoming the unexpected. The use of extremes as well having chosen such a young age to become addicted to alcohol adds emphasis. Loved it being well worded with good rhyme short and to the point. A lovely write
You're too kind but much appreciated - thanks s.
Ooh. I am feeling sorry for you too. That's no fun. This poem speaks much to truth to this guy. I was 17, I think, when I went AWOL on teetotaling. Decades later, happily teetotaling free of the demon it had become for me. A most excellent write and most excellent to see you back, my friend! πΉπ
Thanks for the welcome Tristan - good to be posting.
Indeed. You are most welcome. A speedy recovery to you.
Excellent write
Cheers Tony
You're welcome
Good fun write Michael. I can remember the very first pint I bought in a pub, it was a pint of Courage Tavern and it cost me one shilling and seven pence.

And mine was a Manns - the best brown ale.
You're too funny, but that is a dangerous hobby, methinks. Having been raised thus, I dabbled in joining the rest of you enlightened souls, only to learn what I should have known. Can't guess what I'm missing. Delightfully rendered with a haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.
