Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
I do return sometimes... occasionally...
I do return sometimes... occasionally...
Something special just happened to Sydney -
It became the most expensive city
In the world to find shelter; you with me?
The world mark you; couldn’t be more shitty.
.
‘Greatest country in the world’ says our PM,
(He’s a well endowed property owner)
Perhaps accompanied with too much phlegm;
I only know there’s no greater downer:-
.
For the homeless who can’t get out of town,
Patents in hospital – been there, just ask me;
Or those embroiled in a traffic meltdown
In this jewel of our paradise, Sydney.

- Comment from author about the poem: So Australia the greatest country in the world, hey? Now I’m not going to argue it is anywhere near the worst obviously, but what manner of complacency and delusion leads to a statement like that?

Any large city is like that Dave. Never been to Sydney but, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro are all the same.
But Sydney beats 'em all !!🤣
I do not know Sydney, but here London they constantly bang on about it being the best in the world and it is very very far from it, I would think this happens all around the world. I think sometimes when we are surrounded by something and see it all the time we can become blind to what it is really like, enjoyed the read
Political mendacity was a side issue, the substantive the housing crisis which exists here.
Thanks as usual for your support, Tobani.
You are very welcome
Who knows which is the best place to live Dave, it is about what we each do within that place and hope it makes us happy.
Andy
Sometimes (just occasionally!) one must take a wider view Andy, and see Society as a system in which a change in one part has ripple effect throughout. I’m not suggesting I can do much about it individually, but at least can be aware of, and point out deficiencies within the milieu in which I exist.
If as Tobani (above) suggests, London (and by extension probably the UK) is not far behind, might not the stress experienced by individuals have something to do with their discourtesy and rudeness you’ve complained about here?
Wow, impressive. Guess we need to put on our rose-coloured glasses and see the emperor's new clothes in all their splendor. This is a beaut. Gorgeously rendered with excellent imagery and a curious poignancy. Thank you for sharing.
Been waiting for your arrival Missy - still my beating heart! But seriously it ain't gorgeously rendered, It's a rant with junky unrhythmic lines, but something I had to get off my chest.
I am nevertheless grateful for your fave and support.
