A Soldiers Wife

a soldiers wife13

I sat there on the edge of the bed

Holding onto the old memories, that constantly went through my head

But always remember when we were just a bride and groom

I'd take the kids to his parents

And toghether they pray for his safe return

Sometimes I would break down when the kids would ask "when is dad coming home?"

i wish so dearly that I had an answer for each time they ask me

Every day the time seems to stand still

With the love in my heart for my man

But can't help but cry as i look at my band

I pray some days that he will come home safe from harm

I speak to god about my plan and wishes

As I stand and cry while doing the dishes

I try my best to hold it together

Doing all I can just to love one man

The kids sound asleep

I then lay down and began to weep

But knowing that he will be home

I would try to make up the time that was lost

And so thank full that he didn't pay the cost.

Really well written, clear and bluntly put. Why must there be war when it only causes more suffering than before?
