Heart and mind conflict inside
As I sit in the corner – terrified
No place to run, no place to hide
I watch as yin and yang collide
The mind craves power
The mind craves control
Logic and reason for every hour
Constant restraint for the soul
The heart desires expression
The heart desires freedom
Only room for rash emotion
Let fly ‘till kingdom come
Fight away, fight away
Bicker and argue ‘till break of day
Try to keep them both at bay
Yet the war goes on its own way
Enough I say.
Enough I say!

Really well written!
Many thanks. ^-^
Delightful, for all the ugliness of the struggle....you've expressed it excellently....and the image is only too fitting! And l love how you've victimized ourselves, caught in the perpetual battle between the two....which ever is stronger for the moment....doesn't usually heart win out? Jane Austen dealt with that issue, especially, I think, in her novel Persuasion. I enjoyed this!!
Thank you, very well put. You've grasped excellently the message conveyed. The image is meant to be ironic, just for fun.
Constant battle lines drawn each and every day. Shall we fire from this volley and crush the mindset or drop a live bomb into the heart of the matter?
I brought violence into the equation because it feel like violence as we attempt to balance one with the other sometimes.
Good poetry.
Thanks.
