Espionage

dbremner

I am he - the spy

I exist in a world

That is neither smoke nor mirror

I sully all that surrounds me

I am the man

Who cheats on his wife

I am the mistress

Who cheats with the man

I exist in a nether world

A place of shadows

Cast in a scene

That is concrete and grey

Yet though you will despise me

And yes, you should

Do not say that I betray

For I've never belonged.

"To betray, you must first belong. I never belonged."  Kim Philby.

It is a fascinating perspective on a spy. I belong somewhere so horribly by this definition may be one.....on the other hand, I do not see how Nathan Hale, beloved spy in the Revolutionary War or the Spy of James Fenimor Cooper's book of the same name were such as you've just presented. But then again, I don't know. It is a very interesting consideration you've presented and I enjoyed it.

A great view on the Spy. I loved it!
