You mean to say that with your obvious Japanese fascination you did not know the Japanese word for "cherry tree/blossoms"??? So far as I know that is the meaning of sakura.

It is the name for the beloved cherry blossoms....check I think Jisho Denshi or something like it to see,....now you know.
