Doubt

P.H.Rose

                Doubt

Your in my mind at first rising light,
stay until the day turns to night.
Intercede when a topic I know,
interupt conversations full flow.
You made me think I couldn't do rhyme,
Even though I've done it time after time.
For years you've been a parrot on my shoulder,
Bending my ear, but not getting any older.
To long put up fences, and blocked roads,
prevented me from reaching any of my goals.
Now it's time to say goodby, show you to the door,
Slam it hard behind, and see you here no more.
Take off the shackles that you did bring,
Then as a free bird, my own tune I will sing....

Brilliant PH - also love the reference to the parrot on the shoulder - a useful euphemism I might use.

Great rhyming poem. Such a great topic to talk about because I think a lot of us have that darn parrot on our shoulders as poets. Thank you so much for this brilliant write! I loved it!
