Among all the love I write about,
there is one thing that I hate.
It's name is depression. I have it.
One thing I don't appreciate!
I need the sun, but a barren
snowy landscape I find.
With icy conditions, trapped inside,
positive thoughts I try to put into mind.
I'm not always depressed but when
I am, writing clears my thoughts.
And at the end of the day, I'm lucky to
be surrounded by people who love me lots!

- Comment from author about the poem: Depression was worse when I was younger, now I think I have more coping mechanisms. There are still days, mostly in winter, when I need to lean on my hubby for support.

Thanks CHRIS ~ Yes where you live you have real WINTERS with "shut in" days we don'gt get that in the South of England since Global Warming (Chinese Myth ~ DT). Glad you find writing an effective "Depression Disperser" Yours ~ Hugs BRIAN
Instead of focusing on negatives, I've found that yoga and poetry help quite a bit. And yes, my hubby is a lifesaver. Thanks for your kind reply. Hugs-Christina
So sorry about the condition. It is common and I know people who have it. I am glad you are thinking of the great things you have in life, and I am glad that writing helps! Great poem to express this condition Christina!
Thanks so much WBL! This site has sure helped with writing and expressing. Just another tool to cope. 🙂
Well written and expressed
Thank you Tony!
Welcome
Ah depression is a terrible affliction so I feel for you but hey - we've always got MPS to cheer us up.
Yes, I've felt better since I've had MPS to write and meet fellow members, Thanks for your review!
oh you have related it perfectly in these lines ~ the depression that the cold and dark long winter can bring. we lived in vermont and sometimes the windows only had once inch of light at the top ~ the rest was solid snow. we had to take an axe and chop ice off of our garage floor. and now we live in park city ~ a ski resort. we have been locked inside for days with heavy snow. we had a brief reprieve when we visited arizona at the end of december. it was like a miracle hit with the sun, sandals, shorts and hiking! but you bring sunshine with your golden pen :0)
Thank you so much for your wonderful reply. Lets me know that I'm not alone. Yes, writing helps me quite a bit! Thanks again! Christina
Ive been there
Bought the tee shirt
I'm still there on occasion
But as you say writing
Really helps... talking
Is another big help
Of mine.... don't let
The bugger get you
Down....
Thanks for the encouragement! I really appreciate it! 🙂
Expressed awesome. Depression is there in the world but after watching my mom treating a patient simply by bringing the one God in her heart and going off meds it made me realise that God is the best cure for it.
I like how u ended it positively. Feel happy for u. Kudos.
So nice to read from u again.
Happy new year.
Thanks for your positive comment. Haven't seen you in a while! Happy New Year to you as well!
