Nursing

Christina8

I've been at the bedside of

so much suffering and pain.

I've also seen patients turn

around and make huge gains.

I don't want to make this a sad poem

because sometimes miracles happen too

Nursing really is a mixed bag of sad and

happy days, it can really surprise you!

When patients got really bad news

with no loved ones to hold

I made it a point to be at their bedside

I always tried to be caring but bold

And when the crash cart was needed

I was quick on my feet!

We saved quite a few lives

I felt like death we could defeat

I wanted to be a nurse since the age of 3

Shoving popsicle sticks in kids mouths. "Say AHH!"

Besides a mother and wife, it's all I'll ever be.

I appreciate your compliments! It can be trying but it is mostly rewarding. Thanks again!

Great write. Having worked in healthcare here in the UK I can only echo all the comments made by others - you are all jewels. Here in UK healthcare is free to all yet there are still those who look for someone to blame when things go wrong and often it is those who provide the care who are on the receiving end- that's where I came in defending against unmeritorious claims - thankfully now retired.

Thanks for your compliments. And thanks for the work you did defending those unmeritorious claims! We all need each other in the healthcare field!

Thanks for sharing CHRIS and caring. To be a WIFE (like you are !) is Praiseworthy and being a Mother to Two triples your score. But to be a NURSE as well makes you an ARCHANGEL ~ well done. I love all the passion and love and TLC you expressing your day to day life and in your poem ~ in respect of your God~given Profession ~ AMEN Mega Hugs ~ BRIAN

              You really are such
              A beautiful person
              Love this poem.
              Hero's don't just
              Use ladders, guns
              and boats.
              I wrote a poem
              About the wonderful
              Work nurses do..
              Honestly my favourite
              5 word phrase is...
              "The lady of the lamp"
              Just utterly beautiful ..

I really appreciate your compliment. Would love to read your poem about nurses. Is that the title? If you could get back to me on that, I would love to read it. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

                • P.H.Rose

I called it "hero's without guns"...
                  I may change the title..
Yes I'll post it soon Chrissy
                  Thanks..
