- Comment from author about the poem: In the UK we have about 60 species of BUTTERFLY ~ and 2500 species of MOTH. Kid love them because they are non-threatening. The Cabbage White caterpillars are very friendly and enjoy the Cabbage Patch and the Butterflies are friendly too. Children should be taught to UNDERSTAND and RESPECT all insects. I teach potential NURSERY NURSES and I encourage them to study and handle worms and spiders etc and to teach the Preschool Children that insects are important in life's cycles. Spiders and worms are very important environmentally ~ cherish them ! Comments welcome ~ Love to you all and to all the Flora & Fauna ~ BRIAN XOX

Great one Brian but some caterpillars do bite and some have hairy poisonous bristles or whiskers or whatever they call them. Looking forward to seeing the first Brimstone - should be about quite soon - mid- march last year.
YES ~ Poetic licence I guess ! Butterflies know when to merge and are good seasonal indicators ! Thanks BRIAN
I am more familiar with the heavy equipment type but this was nice Brian.
THANKS WILLY ~ I guess you also have BUGS in OZ ! BRIAN
What a wonderful write. They teach the preschoolers about the lifecycle of a butterfly here. Very interesting. At any age! Hugs-Christina
Yesit is a wonderful SUBJECT and something even Preschoolers can observe in Practice ~ from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. We use the Cabbage White because the caterpillars and the butterflies are very user friendly ! Hugs & Butterfly kisses ~ BRIAN
Good write but even some of the UK caterpillars are a bit dangerous.
Thanks FRIEND ~ Thanks for your comment ! We use Cabbage Whites to teach Children and Teens about the Life Cycle because they are harmless. We do also teach "Health & Safety" in the Countryside ~ yours BRIAN
I prefer my cabbage without holes but I am willing to share. Just say a beautiful Monarch yesterday. Nice.
Well never forget that the land outside of our Concrete Jungles belongs to Nature' W have an allotment at College and I do grow my raspberries and other soft fruit ~ in a cage ~ to deter the Birds. However I plant my cabbages in the open and share a few "outside " leaves with the caterpillars ~ because I am invading their habitat ! Thanks for sharing ~ BRIAN
This is really good I hope to see more of your writing
