Yoga Practice

Philip

Outside the hectic world

continues at a pace.

Inside the tranquil space envelops

like a blanket round your soul.

Sitting cross legged

your breathing starts to slow.

The teachers soothing voice

washes stressful thoughts away.

Eyes closed,moving with your breath

to a practice older than the written word.

Alone you take the journey inward

your balance steadies the hectic world.

It's only the teacher who gets to see

souls moving in perfect harmony.

Yoga is not an exercise for the body only, but a mental or spiritual exercise as well. Great for relaxation and for clear thinking. Your poem gives it that spiritual value, that stress relief, and its physical nature. I'm sure your wife will be pleased with the end result. I agree that the closing lines carry the most weight here, just great. - Phil A.
