Spring Knows.
Tomorrow's plants curl in frozen patches
as snow-mottled clouds
hang unseasonally low over east-winds.
Surge of change has entered air's passage
as Spring, Winter-dazed,
sluggishly pushes awake greening things.
Lifeless and naked upstanding iced vines
shivering fruitless
dream of times full of graped ruby juices.
Nothing is wasted to rile nature's mind,
no move uncertain,
objectives defined, new becomes rooted.
Cold it may be but Spring knows its duty.

Good write, spring us within touching distance.
A fine write. Must not talk ourselves out of it - Spring will probably be here about June. Oops!
Lovely write! Very descriptive and well thought out!
Thanks FAY for a lovely POEM heralding Spring ! All the daffs came out for St David's day and the crocuses are beginning to show. For a myriad of reasons Spring really is the loveliest Season of them all ! God has promised (at least for those in the UK !) Summer & Winter & Springtime & Harvest will NEVER cease ~ AMEN. Love the Poem ~ love Snowdrops ~ thanks for sharing ~ B
Spot on nature poem Fay wonder work you pen here! Bravo WW
Lovely work - spring appears to be with us - certainly here in middle England - about 10 different species of flower now in bloom in the garden - but beware - only about 16 weeks and the nights start drawing in.
Can't get here fast enough. The resilience of Nature is truly amazing. Beautifully described here in your poem, Those "greening things' are indomitable , and "Spring" is duty-bound. Loved it - Phil A.
And you know nature. Nicely done. Interesting concept of duty assigned to a season.
Refreshing Fay!
