What makes a mind,
Go so deep inside?
Once outgoing, happy,
Now in thought, it hides.
Maybe it’s chemical,
Just metabolism.
Shock to a person’s,
Body system.
Taken down by illness,
High temperature ensues,
Well again, but laden,
Melancholy and blue.
In some it occurs,
Like a flip of a switch.
Happens over time,
Then, succumb to it.
Some make a choice,
Move on, decide.
Others struggle,
Feelings never subside.
The mystery of that state,
Just up, left, and went,
To a deep dark place,
Forever despondent.

Love that song WW! Thanks for the comment. 🙂
I agree with the comment you left and the words in the poem which sum up the tasks of facing each day in despondence - a thought provoking read.
I am fortunate that I wake up eager to face each day. I can relate to those who are struggling, however. Thanks so much Fay.
Well written and expressed Great write
Thanks Tony!
Welcome
I have known those who suffer from deepest blue - this really sums it up. Like WBL I wake up each day in optimism having looked in the mirror and thought 'Yup I'm still here'
Love that point of view Michael. I appreciate the input 🙂
Very good caring write.
Thank you so very much Goldfinch!
Especially if you have ever traveled To 3rd world countries. It's like eyes glazed over. Here in USA you can always dream. But the flip side of that is that switch you mentioned that when flipped turns some into walking zombies. You described it well.
Thanks Augustus. It is amazing to me when I see someone I had known years ago and the change that has taken place. Breaks my heart. Thanks for commenting. We are so fortunate here in the USA. I agree!
