TIME
As nature’s libraries patterns change
by slow degree with mornings call,
the mustering oak and elm and ash,
where moonlight dripped and silvered boughs,
point down to where the yawning path
knows no defined establishment.
And now ensphered by harmonies,
with great eclat the morning fugue
of rustling wind and wildlife’s call,
declares release from night times veil
to rest and summon resolution.
And there he stands in reverie
with passage of the lonely years
and yielding by slow degree,
with back now stooped, his burnished face
with wrinkled mien, his mind dwells deep
on nature’s contract made with man.

Ah Michael - An expertly rendered scene where time catches up with nature and man. This plus the wonderfully painted flowers makes a complete duo of reading and viewing experience. Ever thought of publishing a book combining the two ?
I've often thought about it and spoken at length with colleagues but as yet I've not identified a publisher who just might be interested. I could self-publish but the costs, effort in self promoting and the risks etc are a bit daunting - thanks so much for your kind encouragement.
This is a beautiful write Michael.
You are kind Goldfinch - thanks so much.
Go for it Michael. Your words are so publish worthy! Paintings too!!!
Thanks so much and - yes - I will do something but probably a bit later in the year - at the moment I am bogged down with painting commitments - but I'm not complaining.
Congrats!
Thanks MICHAEL for a very clever poem throbbing with rhythm and resonance. It pace befits the subject ~ the inevitable passage of time. Even your flowers are slightly wilted ! You could desktop publish a booklet (centre folded A4) poem on the right ~ picture on the left. A booklet with 20 poems & pictures would only cost about £3 for ink etc and you could try the water by giving them for Christmas presents. You would need to match Poems & Pictures (which would need to A5) Print on both sides ~ Cardboard cover and then fold and staple the centre. I have done it but mainly poems not a picture for each one ! Yours BRIAN
Bless you for the advice Brian and this is a great idea por presents - as I said above I will sort it but a bit later in the year.
what ever time we have Michael I consider myself lucky to have spent these few minutes with you and your art my friend. time is on our side in this!
Of Willy I feel quite humbled by all the kind comments and encouragement from yourself and others and - yes - time is on our side. Just had a full health check and all bits are functioning with no worries - so I'm about for quite a bit yet.
I am joyful at this wonderful news...youf work to do mister!
Absolutely wonderful poem but really captivating when you combine the poem with the beautiful watercolors of the flowers! Worthy of publishing I think too.
Thank you Christina
Man and Nature. Man is constantly getting a good laugh from the wiles of Nature, but eventually she has the last laugh. We age and die, but are often out-lived by the things of Nature. A great write. Loved it. - Phil A.
Thanks Phil - not enough of it is there?
Awesome diction here, I admire your word choice, it's so unique n terrific. Yeah everything gets old and has to die except God I guess. Kudos for this artsy masterpiece.
