YACKY ZEBRAS
Arrogant bears contemptuously digest edible frogs
gambolling hippos identified jumping knobbly logs
muttering natterjacks overcome poor quality replays
sickly turtles undergo very worrying xrays
yacky zebras.

Clever write, love the yacky zebras.
Intriguing painting, would love to see it full size.
Thanks - it's not one of my largest (about 15ins square excluding mount ) but it does look good - it was in a silver frame with black edge (I don't have it anymore).
Yes, very clever. Bravo.
Cheers,
Frank
Thanks Frank.
Ha ha - -such a clever fun-write and very inventive.
Glad you liked it Fay - it's good to try different poetic types and I have Brian to thank for this.
That was a hard challenge but thr end result made me smile
Thanks Joules -now to try one of Brian' villanelles - mmmh !
Quality job with both on display here Michael!
Thanks so much - now for the next challenge.
Thanks for stepping up to the plate MICHAEL ~ a great effort to produce an ABCD ZOO POEM and all the words are Oxford Dictionary Certified. Did you paint the picture after the poem or did the picture inspire the poem ? Looking at them symbiotically ~ in the picture from (L to R): I see a SICKLY TURTLE clutching his X-ray ~ next a HIPPO logging a jump followed by the head of a BEAR dining on "Kikkerbillen". YACKY ZEBRAS are luirking in the background. Then three NATTERJACKS striving in a RELAY (or should that be REPLAY ?). Thanks for sharing Poem & Picture ~ Yours BRIAN
Cheers Brian actually the painting was done some time ago and I found it when looking for something suitable to accompany the poem. Now that you mention it I can see the animals hidden in the abstract forms - how wacky is that?
Yacky zebras permeate the NFL. You may not understand, but your American friends will. It's a commentary on referees who wear striped shirts and talk too much. As for arrogant bears, well, they're all from Chicago. Maybe it's the poor quality replays that make the yacky zebras take so damn long to move the game forward. Bet you never expected to inspire that rant. Oh well, A fun poem and great art. (Pamplona street scene?) - Phil A.
Cheers Phil - I learn something every day from this site - just wish it had a forum where we could discuss our work. as for the rant: rant away - I'm a great ranter myself.
A brilliant contribution don't ever feel glum... I cant get any further than G and it doesnt even seem like a poem. Well done.
