TERRORISM TODAY ~ An Acrostic Sonnet

BRIAN & ANGELA

TERRORISTS ~ BASICALLY COWARDS AND

EXTREMISTS ~ who all operate in a

REALLY  bizarre way ~ using airliners

ROAD VEHICLES ~ like cars ~ lorries to kill

ORDINARY  Citizens and create

REAL  terror on our streets and our Cities

IT MAKES  us all feel UNSAFE ~ where will they

STRIKE NEXT ???  This of course is their key aim ~ to

MAKE US  feel terrorised and insecure !

THEN  we will become paranoid against

OTHER  people who are differen from us

DIFFERENT   Races ~ Religion ~ Politics

AND LIFE STYLES ~ They create division

YOBBISHNESS  and destroy DEMOCRACY !

  • Comment from author about the poem: For the CITIZENS of any Country it is much more difficult to cope with TERRORISM (like ISLAMIC STATE) when it is perpetrated in our Major Cities using everyday objects like Airliners (9/11 ~ New York) Lorries (France) and Cars (London this week). I have visited Ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial in New York and they reflect the terror felt on that day. What happened in LONDON ~ outside the Houses of Parliament ~ on Wednesday was the latest (but not the last) terrorist attack in Europe. Five People are DEAD and many injured ~ the main weapon was an ordinary motor vehicle driven by a Man born and raised in England and a convert to extreme Islam. Ironically the current Mayor of London SADIQ KHAN is a MUSLIM ! When and Where will they strike NEXT ? Comments Welcome ~ Love to ALL ~ BRIAN

Unfortunately the few, and they are very few, can create so much destruction. It is so strange to me that the leaders of these and all terrorists do not do it themselves they get other less able people to kill themselves and others for the sake of their misguided way of life.

Thanks GF because ~ many thousands have committed suicide (suicide bombers) their numbers are depleted. What we have to ensure is that the next generation of Youn Muslims are not indoctrinated by Islamic State ~ Yours BRIAN

I fail how to understand how we can overcome such awful acts. Sadly the terrorists win from every act they perpetrate. This latest outrage , awful as it was, was conducted by just one man and is nothing compared to the carnage of the IRA and yet it has now dominated the TV channels ever since to the exclusion of all else giving them all the publicity they could seek for their sad beliefs.

THANKS MICHAEL ~ ONE COULD AGREE THAT THE MEDIA COVER (24/7) IS A BIT OTT. However people do need to know and be forewarned ! Thanks for your concern ~ Yours BRIAN

I'm going to make a strong comment, about a recent person passing away. Will the fires of hell be stoked hotter for them?! There's forgiveness AND justice.

THANKS "O" there are two sides to everyone and st FUNERALS and in OBITUARIES we often only concentrate on the positive aspects of their lives. The GOOD that MEN do lives after them ~ the EVIL is oft interred within their bones ! Shakespeare put it the other way round ! BRIAN

Thanks B. 'Shakey' said many good things, but not all good. I part company with him on some of the things he said, no matter how wise his other sayings are.

And yet I heard a statement from a monk-type person of long ago: 'What have the flames of hell to feed on, but our sins?' if sadly we're still in them.

Thought provoking Brian. Our son was in the Houses of parliament the day before the attack. I felt I needed to know the facts, so watched a lot of the saturating news coverage, it's not morbid curiosity but why do we feel the need to know everything? Phil.G

THANKS PHILIP ~ Our extended Families are in Danger everyday ~ pleased your Son was not harmed. We are all news hungry when something like this happens we need to know. However the 24/7 News Commentary is a bit OTT. Thanks for caring ~ BRIAN

Thanks for your concern TONY ~ In one sense all those who died (including the terrorist !) and were injured are my BROTHERS & SISTERS which makes the whole thing worse ~ when we embrace the Brotherhood of Man ~ I do have extended Family in LONDON but thank GOD none of them were on the Bridge ~ AMEN. I am over 50 miles from London ~ BUT ~ the closer you are the more you feel the heat ! Yours BRIAN

Welcome., and you are right we are all brothers and sisters in Christ

                • Christina8

I am sorry that you and your country are going through this. And like you said, it won't be the last. We just have to appreciate everyday and not give in to fear. Well done sonnet. Hugs-Christina

THANKS CHRIS ~ I like sonnets because they restrict the poem to 14 lines. It is difficult to understand how a nice lad born & raised in the UK could turn into a petty criminal and then perpetrate a criminal act which has shocked the whole Country. Five dead and 50 injured. These "Muslim" terrorists don't mind dying because they believe thy will go straight to Paradise and be rewarded with seven nubile virgins ~ which of course is a LIE ~ Reassuring HUGS ~ BRIAN

                    • Christina8

That is really sad. Again, sorry for your country!
