Don't Deflect

WriteBeLight

So, you made a mistake,

You’re only human.

But, your game of deflection,

Does not suit you.

Admitting you’re wrong,

Is the best path to take.

Don’t make up stories,

Fake scenarios, make.

Pointing your finger,

At others is wrong.

It is only with you,

The blame belongs.

You manipulate others,

To ease your guilt.

On twisted facts,

Your foundation’s built.

The funny thing most,

The irony of all,

Is the mistake you made,

Was extremely small.

But, your behavior today,

No surprise to me.

It only supports,

That you are weak.

The easiest thing,

Just apologize.

All will be forgiven,

Of this, I surmise.

There isn’t evidence,

That this will be true.

But if you change your ways,

People will support you.

We all feel bad,

When we’ve made a mistake.

Only if unintentional,

There’s a lesson to take.

  • Fay Slimm.

So true these words encouraging apology when needed- it makes all the difference to any relationship. Good read and thanks for sharing.

    • WriteBeLight

Thanks Fay. I agree with you. It is important to apologize as quickly as possible. Everyone makes mistakes and when a person apologizes, they might be surprised to see how much help they will get so it does not happen again.

      Nice thinking. Well done.

    • Michael Edwards

good read. sometimes it goes beyond not admitting you are wrong - it is also not making an issue out of the mistakes of others.

Yes - not to overlook accountability. Having said that I also have in mind when, for example, another motorist has made a mistake. They probably realise it and as a result are already quite flustered. So do you hoot at them which is the first reaction and which probably only make matters worse for them (and potentially for others) or do you just show tolerance and let the matter pass.

Great point Michael. 🙂 And thanks for the comment OUTBACK 🙂

Remember you have one finger pointing out, but you have three fingers pointing right back at you. That's what my mom used to say tomy bbrother and I. Great write

Thanks HONEY for an elegant poem but with very serious message. Jesus had a sense of humour (He needed it !) He said ~ don't bother trying to remove a splinter from your Brother's when you have a four foot plank sticking our of yours. Let him that is without sin ~ cast the first stone ~ AMEN. Hugs ~ BRIAN

We all make mistakes, they are the things that give us our experience, we mus accept that we make them and just move forward to blame others is obscene. Good write.

              • WriteBeLight

That is so true Goldfinch. I feel bad, really, for people like that because people avoid people like that. There is no winning with them, and they are without friends and associates. They need to grow up and stop feeling superior. They are just a person like everyone else. 🙂

If you make a mistake admit it honestly and quickly. A lie is like a pebble thrown in a pond the ripples grow and grow (another old proverb). I can sympathies with a person who is scared to admit fault because of perhaps a bullying parent or boss. Very thought provoking. Phil.G

Thanks Phil. I can relate to a child, for example, not wanting to come forward or else face an angry parent or teacher. But, adults need to grow up, I think. I appreciate your views Phil. 🙂
