How did that happen?
I was cleaning my glasses,
Listening to the Radio,
When the announcer said
That the Orchestra,
An Orchestra that I do not know well,
Were playing this, their last ever performance
At the Proms.
And this, their final encore, they played
In memory of their times together.
As the glorious sounds of Nimrod
Came through my ears, into my mind,
Tears just streamed down my face.
Why did that happen?

- Comment from author about the poem: This was written last year during the period when The Proms concerts were being held at the Albert Hall. This was played in the morning on the radio after the concert the night before. The announcer said that the Orchestra was disbanding after that night and this was their last piece of music ever played together. The tears were real.

was it the Stuttgart ? Oh it can easily happen - happens to me when I listen to something slow with passion - Rachmaninov cello concerto for example. No I love the poem and have great empathy with it (if that's possible).
It was a sort of finale for that Orchestra. It struck some chord within you (chord - pun intended maybe!). There's other Orchestras too that continue on, as you know. I go all hot or all cold sometimes with some music, on some occasions. Not hold AND Cold both at once. And not hot flushes! heehee.
You were moved in your subconscious, I think. Some deep movement, and the 'movement' of the orchestral piece.
Got a headache now, with this deep psychological thinking so early of a morning! heehee.
Music connects directly to the emotions so they may be lots of reasons that you cried. This is a poem I can rel;ate to, music can make me cry too. Phil.G
Music is so emotive. Thank you Philip.
Thanks "O" for a beautiful poem and an equally beautiful video and classical music ~ perfect for SUNDAY. The Heavens declare the Glory of God (I look through a telescope and God is there) and Planet Earth the intricate delicacy of His creative ability (I look through a microscope and God is there as well !) AMEN ! Real Men do cry ~ I KNOW ! Thanks for sharing ~ caring and crying ~ BRIAN
Thank you Brian for your kind words.
Music can well up such strong emotion. I am sorry that your group has decided to stop performing. 🙁
age brings nostalgia along for the ride?
Love this GF60...
I completely
Resonate with
Everything
You've wrote..
I cry to some
Music... I absolutely
Adore slow piano
Music.... quite
Literally enters
My very soul...
Coooeee, me headache's gone now! That'll teach me to think too deeply that time of the morning. (Bet I never had a headache to start with even! lol).
