If Only.

Fay Slimm.

If Only.

No tonic compares to dawn's rewarding blackbird-sweet melodies

spilling abroad.

Silence drips with explosion as heart bares feathered note-shards

which pierce crystal air.

If only my pen could capture each rapturous
droplet of sound, alchemy bottled in clearest
liquidy notes which unstoppered pour healing
on festering mind-sets, this dose of captured
spring-chorus would invoke poetic treatment.

Of all nature's trilled symphonies this bird's throaty repertoire hastens

bards to rise early.

So with his tuneful soliloquies stirring my sleep I now gratefully rouse

and intend to drink deeply.

When lovers meet below the sun
The blackbird sings her happy song
The blackbird sings the lovers play
The blackbird sings her song all day
When lovers touch below the moon
The blackbird sings her sweet love tune
The blackbird sings the lovers kiss
The blackbird sings her song of this
When lovers love below the sky
    The blackbird sings her lullabye
The blackbird sings the lovers form
The blackbird sings and love is born

Thanks FAY ~ As is your wont ~ you did your very best to capture the "birdsong" in your elegant poem. The result is verbal melody ! Thanks B

    A fine write.

Apart from the sparrow who I love simply for his cheeky understated appearance the blackbird has to be one of my favourites and this beautifully expressed poem does full justice to his fabulous song

Super write, I too write with the sound of the dawn chorus in my ears.
