ROBIN ~ BRITAIN'S FAVORITE BIRD !

BRIAN & ANGELA

ROBINS PECKING ON THE TABLE

Keep us company ~ Winter long

Bringing joy as they are able

With their color and their song !

They are Britain's favorite bird

Common ?  Yes but very proud !

Often seen and often heard

Happy vision ~ cheerful sound !

Brighten Churches ~ visits graves

While the red red Robin

Comes a-bob bob bobbin

Britains never never will be SLAVES !

Thanks for visiting ~ Comments welcome ~ BRIAN

Add to my FUSION ~ what's your favorite BIRD ?

  • Comment from author about the poem: The ROBIN has been voted Britain's favorite BIRD. One can understand why ! In the bleak mid-Winter ~ when less patriotic birds have emigrated to warmer climes ~ the Robin share our freezing weather and greets us each morning with its cheerful heart warming song. When snow has fallen ~ snow on snow ~ always remember to feed and water the Robins ~ especially on Christmas Day. Robins ~ like Cardinals ~ are one of God's great natural gifts to brighten all our lives. We have always had Robins nesting in our Garden and their presence keeps us all optimistic the SPRING is just around the corner ~ and now Praise God it has arrived ~ AMEN ! Love this little poem - as a youngster I read David Lacks 'Life Of The Robin' and have loved them ever since. I can remember much of the book though I haven't read it since - one of the most interesting points is that the Robin is a bit of a nomad - you might think the same robin keeps visiting your garden but it is far more likely that you see a different on each occasion. By the way Brian - American spelling ?

      • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks MICHAEL ~ Please let me apologies for the Transatlantic spelling (FAVORITE etc) there are THREE plausible excuses ! 1. I was in the USA Kokomo ~ Indiana with my Parents on 911 ~ so I was made an Honorary American. 2. This is an American site and many of the members are American. 3. The spellcheck on my computer is set on USA not UK ~ just a little quirk ! By the way thanks for your very informative comment. At home we always had Robins nesting in the Garden so we know it was the same pair ! Yours BRIAN

All forgiven Brian - certainly no need to apologise - I only made the comment with tongue in cheek - one of the riches which this site brings is the difference in our cultures and understanding of words etc. Also I note quite a difference in use of punctuation and general terminology which all adds to the richness.

Here. the first sign of spring is usually seeing a robin and hearing them sing. You did a wonderful job on your poem, I really enjoyed it! Hugs-Christina

Thanks CHRIS ~ this was a standard poem in QUATRAINS ~ see I can do "normal" if I try ! Spring Hugs ~ BRIAN. Pleased you liked it ! I think English Robins are prettier than the American ones ?
