Mother Nature's Broom

WriteBeLight

Mother Nature

Has a broom.

Stands above Earth,

Power over life and ruin.

Sweeps with the wind,

The rain and snow.

Pounding thunder and lightning,

Making sunshine glow.

And, when she feels,

It’s about time,

She'll start to clean,

The dirt and grime.

She’ll blow the dust,

Dry the mud.

Dissolve salt and sand,

With her soapy suds.

The hail will pounce,

Gusts scrape away,

The residue of those,

Harsh Winter days.

She’ll move the air,

At high velocity.

Warm and cold clash,

Pushed to the sea.

Branches will break,

Power lines will snap.

Eventually become frayed,

Pendants as they flap.

For her task,

She’ll quickly complete.

Oh, so powerful,

Never skips a beat.

What’s left for all,

Is fresh and new.

Fair weather clouds,

Across a sky of blue.

Currently having a stop from wielding my besom - cup of tea and rugby on TV - blue sky, grass cut, roses sprayed and all's well with the world. And all's well with this delightful poem.

Thanks Michael. I like the way you think. I feel great when my chores are done and I can sit and relax. I like to watch cooking shows and golf. Thanks for the delightful comment!

I thought that was great too! Thanks wordman. I thought of this while in a flight from Chicago to Philadelphia this week. Got caught in very bad weather with lightening, thunder, and wind. I could see the weather map and thought of a sweeping broom. It was exciting, yet a little scary. We were stuck on the tarmac for an hour due to strikes. I had not flown for over 30 years! I have a great respect for the pilot, crew and attendants. Thanks again wordman!

Thank you Kurt. It is what it is like after a storm, isn't it? All of a sudden, everything clears up. Weather is amazing. Thank you so much for your comment!

Super write, I spent my day with nature in my garden yesterday.

                  • WriteBeLight

Thank you Goldfinch! I cannot wait for it to warm up here so I can do the same. Have to clear out my garden area around my water feature, which has to be clean of leaves, etc. But, the hard work pays off, doesn't it? Glad you could get outside. Expecting great weather this week. Keeping my fingers crossed!

                    One of my favorites.

I always liked the idea of the planet being sentient, always having to deal with us awful creatures.

                    10/10 : )
