Awaiting June

WriteBeLight

Sneakers and flip flops,

Hit the pavement.

The snow has melted,

Winter’s been spent.

See bare ankles,

And, bare knees.

Now dressed up in,

Cut-offs and capris.

Cool T-Shirts,

Sassy tanks,

Use vacation time,

You’ve banked.

Sticky popsicles,

Creamy ice cream.

Soft summer breeze,

Your baseball team.

The warm Sun,

Makes for balmy nights.

I await Summer’s return,

I’ll leave on the porch light.

Thank you Garry! I love Spring as well, but summer has such life to it, especially at the beach. You are a lucky person!

Thanks HONEY ~ Lovely whisper of Summer in your lovely poem ! Love all the images you conjure up for us.I love the way my female students (16 - 25) emerge like BUTTERFLIES from CHRYSALISES as soon as the temperature tops 60F ~ sassy ! Like you "I love those hazy crazy days of summer " (Nat King Cole 1964 just before he was called home to Glory !) By the way it's 77F (25C) in London today and it's only 67F (19C) in Tampa Bay Florida which is where I normally go in the USA for a week in February ! The "higher than normal temperatures" are the positive side of GLOBAL WARMING ! Summer Hugs ~ BRIAN I only live 10 miles from the nearest Beach ~ Hallelujah !

Oh woe! lol. Not wishing the year away?! yes, Summery in Spring here in the UK at the moment. At least, whatever the weather, with our clocks going forward one hour (end of March) it's like mid-afternoon temperatures around 4pm. In December we get ready to draw the curtains then!

                  • WriteBeLight

Ha Ha. For us it still stays pretty chilly until June. But, you are right! Savor everyday! Thanks orchidee πŸ™‚
