Fay Slimm.

"A wolf pack on the move :

The first 3 are the old or sick, they give the direction and pace to the entire pack.

If it was the other way round, they would be left behind, losing contact with the pack.

In case of an ambush they would be sacrificed;

Then come 5 strong ones, the front line;

In the center are the rest of the pack members;

then the 5 strongest following.

Last is alone, the Alpha.

He controls everything from the rear.

In that position he can see everything, decide the direction.

He sees all of the pack.

The pack moves according to the elders' pace and help each other, watch each other.

Again I am left speechless by nature ... I knew that wolves are different, but didn't realize how much we could learn from them...

I didn't know wolves put the elders of the pack FIRST ....

a lot of people on this planet should take note...

they are to be seen up front, setting the pace and direction while enjoying the protection of the rest...

and not invisible at the back of the line.

Now you know where the elderly belong: at the front!

    The wolves are so wise and so generous in their behaviour, it has Ben shown that wolves will share there food where domesticated dogs will not share with others.

    A great piece = well written and informative. I can understand why you have not declared the author but I remain quite perplexed why there are not more poets on this who use their real name. Aren't they proud of their work I ask myself.

    Learned a lot from this one. It's almost human like. Our leaders tend to be older, our warriors much younger and stronger, every one else is in the middle. Thanks for sharing Fay. - Phil A.

    Thanks FAY ~ Love the wisdom and organisation in this poem which is a tribute to Our Senior Citizens ! Unfortunately they tend to be shuffled into corner ~ silenced and for gotten about ! In our Democracy you sometimes get a lot more sense from the House of Lords than you do from the back-biting Commons. Next time we have ramble on the Church Weekend ~ I will ask the AOP's to lead and not the Teens ~ good advice. Thanks also for the visual ~ which beautifully illustrates the poem ~ now that I have read ~ marked and inwardly digested it ! Thanks for caring & sharing another gem ~ this time by another hand ! Yours B.

    This is a great imagery drawn through fine expression of this poem. A great master piece of work you have shared here. The fable clearly indicates about first 3 and then about rest 5 and rest all. Invisible at the back of the line, but protective at the first of the site this row is. Yes, at front elderly belong. Very thoughtful poem is shared.

      Yes we can all learn fine lessons from this tribal organisation of wolves - my thanks for your comments Pintu.
