GOOD FRIDAY NEWS ~ An Acrostic Sonnet

BRIAN & ANGELA

THE LADIES PREPARE THE BODY OF JESUS FOR BURIAL ~ AMEN

GOOD ?  What's good about it ~ JESUS IS DEAD !

ON A CROSS ! ~ absurd ~ humiliating

ONE  of the most grotesque methods of execution.

TO DIE  on a Cross ~ was a curse ~ a very sad end !

FLED ? YES  the Disciples all ran away

REALLY SCARED ~ that they'd also be crucified

I DON'T KNOW ~ what I would do ~ but JOHN

DECIDED to bravely stand at the Cross

AND JESUS said "John please look after my MUM"

YELLED OUT "DAD I have done it !"  Then He died.

NEVER was the death of ONE MAN so important

EVENTS happened ~ The SUN switched off !

WOMEN took charge ~ Laid His body in a cool ......

SEPULCHRE ~ The whole World held its breath ~ What next ?

Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Easter Love BRIAN

HE died that we might be forgiven

HE died to make us good

That we might have a place in HEAVEN

Saved by His precious blood !

Thanks MICHAEL ~ I wanted to tell it "Like it was !" Do you like the contemporary visual ~ I think it is more realistic than medieval art ! Yours BRIAN PS I don't think you recycle ~ just my poetic licence ~ B.

        • Michael Edwards

I have to say I do prefer the more contemporary. The old masters were breaking new ground and presenting images never before contemplated or envisaged but were of their time - like all things art has moved on since then. Not sure who the artist is but a bit like Chagall or one of his contemporaries.

I feel the anger and frustration of the way in which he died in the poem Brian. Thanks for reminding us of how fortunate we are on this Good Friday.

Yes HONEY ~ as Christians we seek to understand THEOLOGICALLY to comprehend GOD's WAY of REDEMPTION ~ we might of chosen the LAW or GOOD WORKS but GOD chose GRACE ~ God's Redemption At Christ's Expense. Without the shedding of Blood ~ there can be no Redemption and John the Baptist ~ when he saw JESUS said "Behold te Lamb of God ~ who takes away the sin of the whole World. By Faith I accept God's Way of Salvation and by Faith in the shed blood of JESUS I have been SAVED ~ AMEN Hugs in the Spirit ~ BRIAN

Wonderful write, without any 'religiosity'. Is that a word?! lol.
I tend to like ye olden art, and more contemporary. I like the part-faces shown in this. I don't like ones where face or eyes are smudged out on purpose though. I see the acrostic too!
