I awake from the night,
Taken away from Morpheus’ arms,
The new day calls.
I gently arise from my bed,
Stand up straight.
This is a good start,
I am still in this world.
I walk downstairs,
Walk slowly but not stumbling,
That too is good,
I am mobile,
I feel good,
Feel ready to face the day ahead.
I may not be full of vim and vigour
But I am full of words,
Those words come onto this page
And as long as I can write them,
All is well in my world.

Well there is that as well. Thank you Michael.
I know this feeling exactly, It's a positive way to start the day, just to be grateful you are ok. Phil.G
So true Phil. So true.
Yes Goldfinch, great write. I agree with all here. It is wonderful to get up awake and alive and not take for granted the fact that we are able to. 🙂
Thank you WBL.
Great wite
Thank you, much appreciated.
Thanks ANDY for a very DROLL poem ! You will know you are really old when you have to check the OBITUARIES to see if you are in them ! Good week last week ~ please check my Poems ~ BRIAN
At least I am still hear for the moment. Thanks Brian.
A fine write. Will me first though be a pork pie and sherry - that time of a morning?! heehee.
Ohhh but are we ever in the Obit's. We're millions of years old, us two! lol.
So true, the writers of the obituarys will be gone before we will.
Facing another day on the planet is always a lucky day. Being able to write about it, so well, is icing on the cake. Hope all is well. - Phil A.
Thank you Phil, most kind.
Is it during the morning when most of your ideas come to you?
Many do but an idea can come to me at any time, I always carry a notebook with me to write down any ideas that come to me.
Noted! I buy very few things for myself - my wife will attest to this. An exception was made however and I opened just a few minutes ago a handsome, leather bound notebook with the word "abundance" stamped on an interior fold. I have sworn to carry and use it with "vim and vigour."
May your words be always with you.
