I love the times,
When I think in rhymes.
Doing the dishes,
Or, in free time.
Doesn’t matter,
What I do.
No one around me,
Has a clue.
Know that I,
Set a goal.
To every day,
Write one more.
Think of my poems,
When I’m down.
Turn what’s sad,
Upside down.
Others want,
Get off their chest,
Terrible experience,
All the rest.
But, there are times,
When you feel blocked.
Just can’t think,
Your mind is locked.
I too, sympathize,
Been through the crap.
Can’t un-ring the bell.
Just dealing with that.
But, you like me,
Have a talent.
A kindred spirit,
With an open heart.

- Comment from author about the poem: For all the Poets with βWriterβs Block.β Donβt get too serious over what you are trying to put down on paper. Write about the simplest, not just the most serious, of things! Just keep writing!

Good write. Hmm, yes, maybe we 'try' to hard at times. We would like to write one or more poems per day. I have some days I write nothing, then maybe 2 or 3 per day after a 'break' - intended break or not!
If all else fails - just write any old verbal garbage! Or are there enough people talking garbage already in the world?! heehee. And why don't I shut up, for one.... lol.
That cat'll soon think up a poem - a mousey tale or something!
Very, very cute orchidee and I agree with you π
Always manage to writesomething but there is often one hell of a block on getting it right - my poems emerge over days if not weeks. I do manage to write a single stanza (as in the fusions) in one day along with some of my short humorous bits but that's as far as it goes.
Thanks Michael. I am of the opinion that we cannot create the perfect piece or even come close on a regular basis. But, there are a lot of talented poets, like yourself, here. Yes. Try hard. Write something. π
Great write - yes those times of block are a challenge my friend.
Yes Fay. You certainly have an excellent knack for writing beautifully on a regular basis. Thanks for comment poet pal π
I found this on the Internet a while ago...'You can't think yourself out of a writing block; you have to write yourself out of a thinking block'
I love the poem π
Very insightful Hopey! Thanks for sharing that and for your comment!
Thanks HONEY ~ we all suffer from the BLIGHTERS ROCK ~ sometimes but I was weaned on Poetry so its usually not a problems ~ also i have archives I can glean form if nothing comes spontaneously ! Thanks for caring ~ Hugs BRIAN
That is great for you Brian! Good to know π
rumour has it that 'writers block' is just a simple excuse of not wanting to actually write anything. also, that this fault may not exist in other industries. Have you ever heard of engineering block? never-the-less WritebeLight, you have captured everyones attention here with this wonderful writing of yours.
Great point you make Kevin. I never thought of that. I appreciate your comment. I have those days when I just go blank π Or when I hate the next day what I wrote. But, it is a challenge nonetheless. Thanks!
your ink is none different to anyone else's. keep the mind rolling and keep the pen flowing with the creations that haven't been written yet. I challenge everything I write and to try and always make the next one better than the last. even when you fail the success still remains in you to discover which really is the true challenge.
Thanks for the advice!
Good write. Poetry amazes me as I am one of those people who takes up a hobby and is full of enthusiasm, that enthusiasm goes after about three weeks, but poetry is different, I have been writing for years and since I retired I write at least one poem a day, the subjects can come from anywhere.
I feel the same way. It is a very rewarding talent. I think everyone is capable. But, it is like great musicians ... some are just gifted, like you Goldfinch!
So kind WBL, all I do is try.
