BUFFET FODDER

Michael Edwards

BUFFET FODDER

Let’s go for a pizza

I often hear said

but I’d much rather eat a

real meal instead.

It’s okay as a snack

but I really can’t hack

it served as a meal

it has no appeal.

Dried up tomatoes

on cardboard beds

should be fed to the crows

or buried in lead.

Healthy nutritional and complete

primo, il secondo, il contorno, plus sweet

Italian food sends the taste buds soring

but a pizza on its own is really quite boring.

I love pizza but I also liked the poem!

Thanks Dillan. Don't get me wrong - I do like pizza - great as a snack or part of a buffet but not as a complete meal in itself - I really wonder when I hear people say lets go out for a pizza - if I go out for a meal I want something a bit different - a treat - pizza certainly doesn't fill that role.

Might just as well say: 'Let's go out for a pork pie!'

You have an interesting perspective on Pizza 😀

Beautiful painting ! I used to love pizza . Now I don't . They used to use real cheese , great sauce and toppings that pleased . You would think you've hit oil . So much grease , maybe you could get $5 a barrel .
No wonder you can get two large pizzas for $10 a pop . But before you do , just think about it and stop .

Pizzas are OK as you rightly say Michael as a snack or lunch but not as a main meal.
        Good write and good painting.

The best pizza I ever had was a slice purchased from a roadside vendor in Southern France - thick juicy topping to die for - a great snack to keep me going.

Great message in the poem Michael, but you should have accompanied it with one of your cartoons 🙂 Pizza can be made in a very healthy way, but I agree with swingline. Chefs from all over the world have their own take on it. But, nonetheless, have a slice (small one) with some greens alongside, that is my thought. Although, I rarely eat Pizza, unless I make it at home with tomatoes from the garden. 🙂

Mia culpa - yes should have been a cartoon. Now pizza made at home is something else entirely - knocks spots off those purchased at restaurants etc.
