Who Is God ?

swingline

He's the hand I felt on my shoulder as the tornado went by overhead

He's the one who saved me from choking to death in my own vomit as I lay a drunkard in my bed

He's the one who sat beside me on the mountaintop as I cried over my sins

I buried my head in his forgiving arms as the devine winds filled with hymns

Who is God ?

My best friend who saved me time and time again

Who understands my limitations and knows of my failures beforehand

But his forgiveness is great and everlasting for this I know and realize

One who is always there for me to lean on when I'm tired , discouraged , or trembling to the bone

One who has shown me Heaven and promised me a reservation there

Who is God ?

He is in me , my past and my future now to be

I am nothing without my God for he sheds his mercy on me

He is the one who touched me that time on Iona, he is the one who gave the doctor to skill to save my life, he is the one that is always there for us all.
    Good write.

A fine write S. Echoes of lines from the Psalms in this.

I'm no David , thank you orchidee for reading .

But you have a sort of prophetic tone, or 'echo' of the Psalms. David had his ups and downs too. Not all of the 150 Palms are 'cosy, sweet, nice' etc, as you may know.

And yet God can seem to have gone home - or gone to sleep, in some churches! But it's not His fault. Just that some congregations are dwindling. They do what they can, but it's a poor state of some 21st Century churches. Not all of them thankfully!

There is no challenge , without a challenge . The deciples did not stay home waiting for the people to come to them .

          • orchidee

This is true S. Yet a church of mainly elderly people may not be able to do that much. Not that I'm condemning them as decrepit!

            If you know your GOD
            His presence Day & Night
            You need nobody else
            To keep you on the
            The road marked right !
Take time to pray ~ every day
            And when you're headin' home
            He'll show you the WAY
If you KNOW your GOD ~ AMEN
