Unmatched.

Fay Slimm.

Unmatched.

Shallower sages would never permit streams of
night's glittering stardust to detract them from
edging their message with ego's silk sound.

Meanwhile a poetic dreamer reveals
his penchant for embroidering
that which cannot be sewn,
writes to im-passion
every sunrise,
adds vision
to twilight
Scribes
quill
silence
unmatched
beside verbose
lyrical phrasings,
a dreamy romantic
will drop gilt moondust
around every line enhancing
the ordinary to outshine with art.

Coping with life poets slip outside reality,
spin cotton-wool stories then, mind-flying
between lines steal moments to adorn words

  • Comment from author about the poem: Freestyle gone wild, I penned this a while back and laugh at the gross insinuations which hide behind lines. Hope readers will smile and forgive my scribblings.

Well FAY ~ let me say first of all how much I love your HOUR GLASS FIGURE ~ Form poems are not created on a whim ! All poetry enhances and does allow us (and hopefully our Readers) to slip outside reality. In a sense the absurdity of this poem ~ from so respected a poet ~ has reminded me that my last two poems have been too noir and too self~indulgent ! I have already promised CS that tomorrow's will strike a lighter note and will not be about MANCHESTER and the atrocity. So in its own sweet way your HGF Ode has re-ignited my m(f)use ! Thanks ~ Yours BRIAN

And yet you have not been morbid Brian. You have found expressions of deepest sympathies and pains. Through prayer (your other poem) you have found (or will come to find) peace and comfort. It must be a terrible psychological burden if we hold it all in, to keep it all in ourselves, with no expression. In a hymn, relating to mourning for sins I think, it says ... 'Then they find that self-same aching, Deep within the heart of God'.

      "Meanwhile a poetic dreamer reveals

      Wonderfully poetic words.

      Thank you Fay.

I may not have got the 'sense' of this poem. Maybe something too profound for me! Yet some things can be too deep for words. Just 'being there' can be enough at times.
That's my comment on this. Hmmm.

My grateful thanks for your comments dear friend - - any poetic effort worth its while will mean different things to readers depending on need. Pleased its depth affected you too.

      • RAJ NANDY

Loved the poem with its timeless hour glass format Fay! I had paid my tribute to the Muse of Epic Poetry when I had composed my 'Story of English Literature in Verse' covering up to John Milton. Thanks, - Raj, 06 June, New Delhi
