What's In A Bin

WriteBeLight

Recycle bins, full,

Of paper and glass.

Roadside, I see them,

As I drive on past.

Some are large,

While others small.

Wine bottles and cans,

Very full, they are all.

It brings a smile,

To my mind.

Revealed are the drinkers,

In those homes, inside.

And, the bins with the many,

Fashion magazines,

Inside of those homes,

Live the Fashion Queens.

Or, the bins with the handled,

Fancy shopping bags,

Nothing in their closet,

Later use for a rag?

But, who knew when they recycle,

Exposed in the bins on the ground,

Something about the person,

And, their lifestyle is found.

Thanks HONEY ~ A lovely lively Poem on a very important topic ~ Have you sent Trump a copy ? It is surprising what you see in "Bottle Bins" ~ I didn't realise that so many of neigbours are ALCOHOLICS ! Hugs BRIAN

Very true Dear Brian. I revised the poem as I thought it needed something more. Thanks!

Oh it is not so in my home . The roadside trashed is the norm . The filth that litters our roadside ways rivals the worst internet sites pedaling porn . Blown tires , beer bottles , yesterday's news . It's enough to give me blues . Catch the fiends who dumped their fridge and take away all of their priviledge .

Yes, some can be very messy. I did revise the poem as I thought it needed a little more. Thanks swingline!

          Great poem WBL
          We in the U.K. Are
          Having a bit of a
          Problem with fly
          Tippers. They just
          Dump rubbish in
          Lanes and fields
          It's something I
          Absolutely hate..

          • WriteBeLight

Happens here too! I did revise the poem as I wanted to include more about what is found inside the bins. Thanks P.H. 🙂

Here in the UK we now have to pay for plastic bags which used to be given away free by the supermarkets. The idea being to reduce plastic waste but strangely the sale of plastic bin liners has since soared. Its an odd world. Who are these people who leave litter in our streets and countryside? I never seem to see them - just the results of their total lack of consideration.

            • WriteBeLight

We have places that are not allowing plastic anymore. I do agree, sometimes solving a problem just creates a new one. I did revise this poem as I wanted to include more about the stuff in the bins. Thanks for reading Michael!

For some unknown reason the southern states(stupidity perhaps) the streets seem to,be the place to throw out your cigarette butts and beer bottles and fast food containers. I like Colorado where it is pristine. Kudos

              • WriteBeLight

Thanks Augustus! I guess you could argue that they are what they eat, drink and smoke? 🙂 I did revise this poem as I wanted to put more about what is inside the bins and what they reveal about the recycler. Thanks for reading!

Good write, we recycle religiously but I ensure that the wine bottles are empty before throwing them away.

                • WriteBeLight

Ha Ha, very funny Goldfinch! I revised this poem just now as I felt it needed more about what is found in some of the bins. Thanks for reading!

So true, WBL, the trash and recycling we throw out does say a lot about us. And you said it beautifully. Just make sure your neighbors don't read this poem! 🙂
