Rain or shine,
They’ll hold the parade.
For all service people,
Who exceeded the grade.
Those now living,
And, for whom have passed,
Their fight for freedom,
For peace to grasp.
Ugly, horrendous,
Those actions of war.
Yet, brave men and women,
Determined, travelled far.
So, I will thank you,
For your service.
Heavy toll on yourselves,
Fulfilling your purpose.
All of those veterans,
Here on earth, in the grave,
My heart goes out to you,
For the price you paid.

They chose not war , but didn't back down , when into the gates of Hell , descended , some to die some to live and tell . But none came home the same . Just for our freedom , America's name .
Thanks swingline. The toll on those who survived is heart wrenching, as some fell into decline. For those who managed to return to a normal life, I am amazed at their inner strength. Your comment is very much appreciated and appropriate for the day.
