  • Comment from author about the poem: DOVES are very beautiful and gentle ~ snow white Birds. There song os a gentle COO which symbolises PEACE. NOAN sent a Dove out of the Ark and it came back bearing an Olive Branch. The Bird and the Branch signified that GOD was again at Peace with the Earth and that it was OK ~ for Noah & His Family ~ and all the Animals to leave the ARK and return to Earth ! GOD also used the Dove as a Symbol of the Holy Spirit who brings us Love ~ Joy ~ Peace ~ AMEN. So be on the lookout for DOVES and every time you see one ~ THINK PEACE ! Good peace filled write. Unfortunately I have to disgree about the peacefulness of doves. We feed the wild birds and unfortunately there is a dovecote not far from us and the doves come to the garden and eat the wild bird food, that I suppose is not so bad but they ATTACK the wild birds which as far as I am concerned is not on. I have a water blaster now with which I scare the doves away.

Thanks ANDY ~ To each his own experience. It might be a question of NUMBERS ! Football Fans are OK individually ~ but get a GANG of them and all HELL breaks loose. W only get One or Two and they are very gracious and share nicely with the other Birds ! Yours BRIAN

Hymn line? 'let there be peace on earth, And let it begin with me'? A fine write B.
Erm, do doves say 'coo-eeee' when they meet each other? And furthermore, will my jokes get less corny?! Tee Hee.

Thanks STEVEN ~ so many lovely hymns about PEACE ~ AMEN. As far as i know the say COO # COO ~ but they do sometimes get unwanted attention from a much bigger and uglier Bird ! NO NO ~ Not "Sally from the Alley" ~ but the CUCKOO ! BRIAN

Thanks CHRIS ~ I love DOVES but my MUM would have liked a DOVECOTE but they are too expensive. However we always got DOVES in the GARDEN and they were always a Blessing. We ate sill on high alert for Terrorists ~ but te UK is at Peace with most of the World ! I guess the USA still has tensions with Russia ~ but that was everso since 1945 ! Love Peace & Hugs ~ BRIAN

How is it that billions of people pray for pease and still it eludes us? Doves are my fovorite bird. They are almost always with a mate. There coloring is distinct. When they take flight there is a fluttering sound like no other.

That is True MICHAEL ~ People always cry PEACE when there is no PEACE ~ and I agree H.Sapiens always seems to find some excuse to pick a fight with His (or Her) neighbour ! BRIAN

Edifying write Brian. I consider it a blessing and a time for a spontaneous prayer when a dove lights up in front of me. The symbolism to the Holy Spirit in my own faith tradition is strong. We've got an over abundance of them here in Texas; they are legally hunted and prepared for dinner between the months of September and January.

Thanks GARY ~ I love TEXAS ~ especially AUSTIN ~ but TEXANS are a law to themselves ! We eat PIGEONS in the UK but never DOVES ! BRIAN

Austin is where I grew up Brian. Both my parents still live there in the same home they purchased during the late 1970's. My brothers and I were fortunate to be part of the 1980s/1990s music scene when Austin proudly proclaimed itself to be "the Music Capital of the World."
