BEES are an important insect
Pollinating flowers ~ they're funny
They buzz and fly ~ high in the sky
In the hive they're makin' HONEY !
BEES are different shapes & sizes
BEES are busy ~ BEES are nifty
Twenty five types of HONEY BEES
Out of two hundred and fifty !
All should protect our HONEY BEES
Our HONEY Farms and HONEY hives
Where is the nectar ? Shown by dance
HONEY brings sweetness to our lives !

This poem is presented in three equal QUATRAINS with an xaxa
xbxb xcxc rhyming pattern. Each line is in iambic tetrameter ~
eight syllables per line. For poetic perfection meter (number of
syllables per line) is just as important as consistent rhyme pattern.
With Classical Poetry ~ content is also as important as form !
MODERN POETRY ~ which breaks all these rules (and GRAMMAR)
is equally acceptable in the unstructured and undisciplined 21st C !

- Comment from author about the poem: Honey was an important "sweetener" before sugar was available. It also has therapeutic and aphrodisiac properties ! Consequently it is an important Global Commodity. Leading producers (1000's of tonnes per annum) are China 474 ~ Turkey 104 ~ USA 81 ~ Russia 75 ~ Canada 37. The UK produces 9,500 tonnes per year and we import a lot from Australia and New Zealand etc. Each County in the UK produces its own distinctive Honey. I have a mug of hot steaming Twinings lemon and ginger with a spoonful of honey in it every night before retiring - great poem Brian.

Bees are threatened today by defoliants. Honey can simply be stored at room temperature in a jar and does not go bad or loose its fresh goodness. Again, another poetic perfection from Brian.
Thanks \"A\" pleased you liked the POEM in respect of both its Structure & Subject. I am a perfomance poet and I like poems to have Rhythm (meter) as well as Rhyme. Modern Verse of course has neither ~ nor spelling or punctuation. If cars were manufactured like that they would never pass the MOT. However because I am at least one~third through my allotted span (100) I must not confuse the fickle meanderings of the muse with precision Automobile Engineering ~ but I do like Poets like John Bettjeman whose odes are are well engineered by a Wordsmith ! Unique poem about the wonderful honeybee! You should see the huge container of honey I keep! It goes in my tea. I've also found a teaspoon or two is a reliever of the hiccups. We must do what we can to save the honeybees as people are mentioning. An excellent poem!! Hugs--Christina

Some of the best Environmental Scientists on the Planet are in American Universities ~ why can't they ~ collectively ~ tell Trump he is ignorant and uneducated and that HE is the MYTH and NOT Global Warming !
