Broken Country.

Goldfinch60

Whose to blame?

It was us oldies

Living too long,

Using all the money,

The money we had paid

To live in our retirement.

But no, it was now our fault,

We were living too long,

And those in power,

And those with money,

Wanted more,

Through their greed

For their own gains.

The election was a farce,

She didn’t get her way,

Her lead was removed,

And the youngsters were blamed.

They went out and voted,

Voted for the first time.

They voted differently

And it was said that

It was their fault,

Their fault that the election failed.

Cannot those in power see,

It is not the oldies fault,

Or the youngsters fault,

It is theirs!

Their need to give profit,

Give profit and power,

To themselves,

To their party

Is all they can see!

And all they want!

The people don’t matter to them!

The country doesn’t matter to them!

We live in a broken country!

Changes must be made!

Well said. It's interesting that the younger ones tended towards Labour and it is reasonable to assume that they will carry their ideals with them; in other words Labour is most likely to be the party of the future. The Torys thought they would gain the UKIP votes = they still don't understand that Leave was not a party related issue - many Labour supporters felt the same way and UKIP was merely a temporary means to an end. Sorry - shouldn't use MPS as a political platform but then I'm not expressing a party political viewpoint - or am I?

It was interesting to watch and hear the politicians trying to explain what was going on.
      Thanks for the comment.

A fine write G/F. Maybe it's symbolic that it's a hung Parliament - divided,. Though some want them hung in the other senses!
Meanwhile, on me sherry - only one thing for it: bring back The Monster Raving Loony Party. Shall we both stand as candidates?! heehee.

Thanks Orchi. The MRLP is still around but does not get the same publicity since Lord Sutch died.

And how would all this have been settled in 1066?

No choice, disagree with the king and you got executed - now there's a thought!

A fine explanation and an engaging read G.

👏👏👏👏👏 I think this is a true reflection of what went on. As a Scottish lass I remember what a tories government did for us in the 80's and would do anything to get them out (just my personal opinion)

            • Goldfinch60

Your opinion is justified, saying that though I still reckon they are ALL in for what they cn get out if it for themselves.
              Thanks for the comment Jooles.

All I can see is Trump and May walking hand in hand this last winter . Too bad we can't have another election here in the US for more than three years .

We live in interesting times, not necessarily good times.

Same here in the USA. Our last administration spent a trillion dollars on infrastructure except the majority of that money just vanished. I remember when I was younger the mayor of the city was a voluntary position without salary simply covering expenses. Today salaries are 300,000 plus. Nice rant.

A very nice summary of what occurred. Also happy birthday Gold!

Thanks PB. I don't know where MPS is getting the idea it is my birthday as it is not until October.
