DESIDERATUM

Michael Edwards

DESIDERATUM

Where darkness rendered absolute

till rising sun exhibited

its early rays of subdued light

and shades of shadows shyly hid

the distant path that disappeared

down which his steps he now retraced.

With haze of gray upon his hair

and now described of sober caste

yet little touched by passing years

with whispers of the past preserved

as memories were disinterred

by lonely progress made of impulse.

Straying quietly from the road

his curious eye the vista swept

until he spied her sylphlike form

and so as judgement did decree

with sudden heat of feelings burst

he vouched to live his life anew.

    Very good write Michael.

Good painting as well; is that you on the bicycle?

A fine write and pic M - not 1066 yet?! Ah, good, you were inspired to another poem.

          • Michael Edwards

Currently decorating but 1066 is waiting - its been a long time so a bit longer won't hurt.

With its lilting cadence and evocative form this tale of change from dark past to love's bright determination has to be one of your best Michael - a charming read.

Well tweaked poem, Michael! A classy one I must say, truly a beauty. I'm a big tweaker myself, but believe it's worth it. Your poem confirms that.

              • Michael Edwards

Tweakers both - can't beat a bit of tweaking - thanks Louis

              • Tony36

                Well written and expressed

              • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks MICHAEL and once again you have complimented a perfect poem with a perfect picture. Love the sentiment in this poem ! A glimpse of a Sylphlike Girl always lifts my Spirits & Resolve ! All poetry is a "work in progress" but to my mind (and others ?) DESIDERATUM (a PREREQUISITE) was fit to post ! Yours BRIAN
