We live each day of our lives,
And each day we try to do our best.
Sometimes we make mistakes,
And do things we regret.
We must realise within ourselves
That life doesn’t allow us to go back,
Go back and fix things,
To fix that we have done wrong,
Done wrong in the past.
But those errors of life
Gives us experience,
That experience is important
As it allows us to live better,
To live better each day,
To make fewer mistakes,
And to make each day,
Better than our last.

A fine write G/F. But too late in my case? I mean - for one day in 1066 it's too late for me anyway! heehee.
absoulutly, I have learned most things from trial and error. and it does work. but you have got to be open to it. or you will make the same errors again. we all have to keep our heads up if we are going to get anywhere. theres always time to learn new things. we just have to take that first step.
Thanks Paul, that first step is always the hardest but looking back we wonder why.
Interesting that those with life's experience voted mainly Brexit whilst those with the exuberance of youth voted mainly Remain. Having said that your poem makes such a great point - thanks for posting it G.
Thank you Michael.
Better tomorrow than today, or yesterday. The only way forward GF.
Very true Frank. Thank you.
Well written poem. It is funny I wrote a poem about wisdom/experience just yesterday. It is obviously different from yours (Yours is better!).
Somebody once told me: Experience is recognizing a mistake the second time you make it.
Thanks ANDY ~ Good ~ Better ~ Best never let it rest ~ Until your good is better and your better best ~ AMEN ~ BRIAN
Very true Brian, thank you.
So very true.. 'Grow through what you go through' ❤
Thanks Renzi. I like that ' Grow through what you go through'.
And in my acknowledged minority view ... 'And to make each Life, better than our last.' Enjoyed your wise poem, Goldfinch!
So very true.
You're right about experience being unable to be taught. A fool learns from his own mistakes, and a wise man learns from the mistakes of others. It's funny though. There's so much history, and still so many mistakes. Good stuff, keep it up sir.
Thank you Nicholas.
Great write
Thanks Tony, much appreciated.
Welcome
I was slow at that experience thing. Finally took time to reflect and began living at age 55. Great write.
Thanks Augustus, whenever it happens in our life experience eventually works.
