The day was nearly over,
A day where its heat drowned me.
At last the evening came
And the oven of the day receded.
Into the garden I went,
Book and drink in hand.
I sat in the peace of the evening,
That peace interrupted by the calls.
The beautiful song of blackbird,
And the glorious voice of the robin.
I tried to read my book,
But natures wonder pulled me from it.
So I sat and listened,
And peace came over me,
The peace that I find in nature,
That I find in natures wondrous world.

Just to relax in the garden is such a pleasure - your poem says it all.
So true Michael. Thank you.
yeah, but you will finish the book?
books are good to. reading can let you be sharp and after you read you become more aware of things that need attention. wonderful garden story.
Yes I did finish the book and am reading others. Thank you Paul.
that a way! me too. like you said before. I love getting lost in a book. maybe these aren't exactly the right words. but I think close enough to get the meaning. I just about have to use a microscope to read books, but I gladly do it.
A read to show where true relaxation can be found. Lovely verse.
Thank you Fay.

Amen indeed. Thank you Brian.
I miss my country garden since moving into the city. The call of the revving Yamaha, the muted sounds of a passing boom box 200 yds away, a trill of four letter abuse from passing flock of youth. But your poem relaxes the memory back into me. Thank you.
