A FEW SINGLE LINERS

Michael Edwards

                                A FEW MONOSTICHS

Like precious metals in a mine the soul has hidden virtues.

When the sun rises it rises not on him.

Today is mine, tonight I’m yours.

She hung out the washing and the man in the doorway watched.

Its smoothness shone like post-tide sand.

The positive side to one liners is that they're vague; They leave many things to imagination. The downside, in my humble opinion, is that sometimes they come off a little too vague. Nothing wrong with that, it shows the style of the author thoroughly. Well done in this aspect. Happy writing, friend!

Thank you Nicholas - I love these as I can jot down an idea which comes to mind and which would otherwise be quite lost - a great way of keeping the pen going in odd moments when it would otherwise be redundant.

Indeed. I have a notepad on my phone filled with etchings, haha. When the words show up you have to write them down.

One liners can be very good and can also be enigmatic.

Your abstract is another fine painting Michael. There is something about your abstracts that totally intrigue me.

          • Michael Edwards

Thanks G - just got another demo booking for the abstracts - such fun to do albeit a little unpredictable at times.

            • Goldfinch60

Surely one of the things about abstracts is that they are unpredictable, certainly from the viewers point of view. That is what makes them so intriguing.

Gorgeously attractive abstract Michael and the one liners are a change I shall have to attempt soon.

Michael I used to be an art publisher in a former lifetime, involved primarily in original graphics and publishing reproductions of original paintings. I love your abstract, it would look great in my living room.
Also love your one-liners, all of them! But my favorite one is the first one. Sometimes we do have to dig deep to find these hidden virtues. Thank you for publishing them!

Gee thanks for the accolade Fred - so much appreciated and so encouraging.

Yes the last one is my favourite but I do like the washing line one - what is he doing there? - is he looking at her or the washing? - Why?

The background colour to the abstract isn't the best I could have chosen but it seems to work nevertheless. Thanks for your kind comments Louis.

                          Love them all, great write

                        • malubotelho

I felt like looking at a paint of a woman hanging the clothes on those clothing lines and a man standing on a door watching her. I could feel the swing of colorful clothes and gaze of his eyes. Beautiful way of writing and the painting is amazing 😉 Thanks
