BRIAN & ANGELA

ALBACORES ON WINDERMERE ~ ENGLISH LAKE DISTRICT ~ FREEDOM

Is it envy or nostalgia ~ That brings

Me peering at the craft bobbing on't water ?

Nosing at each boat moored along the quay'

I have sailed ~ mainly Albacores ~ they were

Considered safe for Children ~ mast tethered

Life jacketed ~ Mini Michelin Men !

Inland Lakes ~ Bala and Windermere

Were our playground ~ I dreamed to own a Yacht !

But Scousers had to be satisfied with ......

Ferry 'cross the Mersey ~ With the one I love !

Now I can afford to go on cruises

Europe ~ Baltic ~ Alaska ~ West Indies !

But I have never owned ~ My own YACHT

And I have always lived close to WATER !

Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN

Do you live near water ~ do you like Water Sports ?

The British are of course an Island Race with Lakes

and the Coast for Sailing and wonderful Rivers for

Long Boating and Canoeing. We are all "Sons and

Your poetry packs a strange punch. I can't really put my finger on it. If I had to say, it would be that it's both playful and serious at the same time. It's really perplexing. Anyways, well done. Happy writing friend.

THANKS NICHOLAS ~ for your comment ! The answer lies in that fact that I want my poetry ( in the main) to both entertain & educate ~ OK ~ BRIAN

Rarely put feet on water so to speak although did go on the ferry Cross the Mersey a few months back and last month was on the River Douro in Portugal so not doing so bad. Nevertheless I appreciate this poem and the fascination for water.

I love it Brian. The way you feel about yachts (or boats, or ships) I feel about motorcycles!

Thanks FRED ~ I would love a Harley and have driven one in the USA. My biggest motorbyke was an AJS 350 cc ! I only drive cars now and would love a Ford Mustang ! Yours BRIAN

My first bike was a 250cc BMW single cylinder thumper, then I rode a 450cc Honda with racing fairing and souped up motor. That was in Switzerland before I emigrated to Canada. In Montreal I raced motocross for a few years, was even Quebec Champ in the Senior Open Class. Now have a 1988 Honda Hawk GT NT650. They only sold them in the US for three years and it has become kind of a cult bike. Needs a little bit of TLC now, but it still runs good. Wrote a poem about motorcycles a while back. It is not very good, but maybe I will post it one of these days.

I too live near water. Love rafting or canoeing down a river. Don't get to boat as much but I love it! Much like I loved your poem! I envy that you can go on cruises to all those places. Great job! Hugs--Christina

Well CHRIS I guess it's because I'm still single ~ but i know I should be saving up for a House and College fees etc instead of CRUISING ! I think my poem today rippled a lot of ponds ~ some nice comments ! Love canoeing and have organised and led Christian Canoe camps and Sailing Camps for Young People ~ Lots of FUN but also lots of responsibility ~ Liquid HUGS BRIAN

I live in Florida and we are surrounded by water. We have ponds and canals everywhere. We have a beautiful park on the neighborhood where one rent canoes and go down the river. Very soft. The beach is just about 7 miles away because I live in Jupiter Farms. I'm not so good with water though. Love the beach when the water is soft and not wavy. Thanks for your beautiful poem.
