EUTHANASIA  is a topic currently under discussion in the UK

and there are several high profile cases ~ related to "Quality

of Life" and the right to choose when to die. One has sympathy

with those who want to still be compus mentus at their death

and not comatose.  What do you think ?  Love BRAIN.

  • Comment from author about the poem: HUMAN EUTHANASIA is legal in Netherlands ~ Colombia ~ Belgium and Luxembourg. Assisted Suicide is legal in Switzerland ~ Germany ~ Japan ~ Canada and in the US States of Washington ~ Washington DC ~ Oregon ~ Colorado ~ Vermont ~ Montana and California. The key difference between Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide is WHO administers the lethal dose of medication. Euthanasia requires a Physician (or other third party) in Assisted Suicide the Patient self administers the Drug and decides the time. The main objections to Euthanasia are Spiritual ~ playing GOD ~ and terminating the life of relatives for convenience or financial gain. I find it hypocritical in the UK that thousands of "healthy babies" are murdered each year ~ in the womb ~ whereas death is denied to Terminally ill Adults who express a desire to die. What is your opinion ? Blessings to all ~ BRIAN

This is such a vexed question with divides among people of all religious persuasions as well as those with none. On balance with tight checks and balances I am inclined towards it but so difficult.

    • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks MICHAEL ~ In our CHURCH GROUP we have several Members whose quality of life is ZERO and they long to be in Heaven which is far better ! I am PRO LIFE as far as ABORTION is concerned ~ but on balance I favour EUTHANASIA. To kill at the start of life seems heinous but to allow "Death with Dignity" at the end of life seems humane. Check my FUSION ~ you can choose the AGE you would really like to be YOUNGER (which is what most choose) or 150 perhaps ? BRIAN

Let's spit it out and say it with no nonsense - abortion is murder! Maybe we would allow it though for 'unhealthy' babies - some deformity, etc.
We have euthanasia for pets, sad as it is, after we and vets have done all we can.
On a light note - I'm millions of years old anyway. I caused all the trouble at Hastings in 1066! I knew Will personally (the Conqueror). heehee. I must put this sherry down!

Thanks STEVE ~ Pleased you are PRO LIFE ~ Life begins at conception when the egg (23 chromosomes) is fertilised by the sperm (23 chromosomes) ~ It takes 38 weeks of development before it is ready for delivery from WOMB into the WORLD ! However the Child's Live begins @ conception Abortion is Murder ! 5,000 people commit suicide in the UK each year (38,000 in the USA) some of these are older people who want to die ~ also terminally ill people are killed by their own Family to end their pain. Should EUTHANASIA for the terminally ill be made legal in the UK and all the US States ? Would you like a holiday in Switzerland ? BRIAN

A difficult subject but when quality of life dwindles to nothing I feel for those who desire then assisted suicide. - -- Countries are divided in this but sooner or later it will be accepted methinks.

        • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks for your reasoned comment FAY ~ I agree personally I think it will become legal in the UK in the future ~ Yours BRIAN

Such a dividing subject. Abortion certainly should not be allowed except under extreme cases where baby or mother are in danger. But having an abortion because it is inconvenient at that time is dreadful. After all I do believe that they know why pregnancy occurs nowadays,
Euthanasia to my mind is different. There are justifiable circumstances where is should be the choice taken.
Good write leading to a profound discussion.

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks ANDY ~ pleased you are pleased to support PRO LIFE for the "unborn". Your reply on EUTHANASIA used the legal phrase "Justifiable Circumstances". This implies you would prefer each case to be considered on its own merit rather than a blanket decision to legalise EUTHANASIA ~ Yours BRIAN

I will need no one's permission when my time has come, thank you. I have enough pills to do the trick, and a 38 caliber as a back-up plan.

            • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks LOUIS ~ the Scouts motto is BE PREPARED and you obviously are. Your death statistic would technically be "Unassisted Suicide" is that your preferred choice ? BRIAN

              • Louis Gibbs

Ah yes, I've always lived by that motto from my Scout's days. "Unassisted Suicide", works for me! Thanks Briansodes.

              • Christina8

I believe strongly against abortion. But when someone is suffering and in their right mind, can't we afford them the same right we would give a dog and AT LEAST in the case of a TERMINAL illness let them have an assisted suicide? Thats what I think from watching so many people suffer. Hugs-Christina (Great poem :-))

Thanks CHRIS ~ Love you for bring PRO LIFE ~ have you ever been required to assist in late term abortions ? As a NURSE your comment on ASSISTED SUICIDE is significant ~ In the UK the Hospice Movements mantra is focuses on "Quality of Life" and "Death with Dignity". MPS does tend to die a little after MIDNIGHT (GMT) We BRITS make a big contribution ! Thrilled you liked the Poem ~ Big Hugs ~ BRIAN

                  • Christina8

No we don't have abortion clinics here and I would refuse to assist on any abortion especially a late term one!

                  • Heather T

Very interesting subjects with impassioned responses. I spent a year knocking on hundreds of doors each week for Susan B. Anthony List and the pro life cause for families. One of the questions I have about assisted suicide is about parameters. Who will ultimately decide the definition of suffering? What will we see in cases of children? Could this potentially lead us down a rabbit hole...for example, under certain definitions could we see people with disabilities or other challenges euthanized? I have many questions and no answers.

                  • malubotelho

I pass to give my opinion here. There is so much in this world that I don't understand. 😭 so sad.
