- Comment from author about the poem: WATER WATER EVERYWHERE ~ NOR YET ONE DROP TO DRINK ! This lament from the Ancient Mariner is very true when we look at the quality and distribution of Water on the PLANET. There is water vapour in the clouds ~ but 97 % of surface water is Sea Water and too salty for the majority of land animals ~ including Man ~ and land plants. Of the 3% Fresh Water 69% is in icecaps and glaziers ~ 30% is underground and 1% is in lakes ~rivers ~ swamps. Rainwater can be acidic but is suitable for plants and OK for animals and Humans to drink. I have imbibed stream and river water and survived ! Billions of people do not have potable water on tap ~ something most of us on MPS take for granted. Living in a Country like MEXICO where you can't drink the tap water and you have to buy potable water ~ does sharpen the mind and make "a glass of cold water" much more precious. Never take Water for granted ~ never waste Water or pollute a stream ~ river or lake.~ AMEN. Comments welcome ~ Love to All ~ BRIAN XOX

They don't seem to realise that it was Technology (The Industrial Revolution) that caused Global Warming etc in the first place ~ Yours BRIAN

Awesome reminder of why we must be green and do whatever we can to save the planet. I am lucky to live near a fresh water Great Lake. Wouldn't drink it but we do try and take care of it. Thanks for a thought provoking write! Hugs-Christina
Thanks CHRIS ~ You are fortunate to live where you do ~ the Great Lakes are one of Nature's wonders. A Friend of standing on the shore of that lake could not believe it was NOT the OCEAN because of its dimension ! The environment you live in and the vast Forests & Mountains & Canyons of the USA (which is 40 times bigger than the UK) does make you all closer to Nature and I hope more responsible for the preservation of Planet Earth the only Living Planet ~ AMEN !
