Words written on stray sheets are easily lost.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I'm now out of poems but have a number of one-liners which I'll post over the next few days. Sometimes these are as hard to write as longer poems but there can be quite a subtle beauty about them - some might argue that they fall into the category of 'quotes' but who cares? I love them and to me they are simply another poetic form.

I'd love to have this on a wall in my home. It has an extra meaning for me, being teased often and for years over doing that very thing. I used to keep a box of verses and poem fragments. I'd become inspired and write furiously on whatever was available. Paper towels, junk mail, leaves, coloring books...I even wrote on my own skin. Love this, Michael.

Feel free to put on your wall - so pleased it has meaning for you.

Does anyone here watch the Japanese channel NHK. They've just had a great programme on haikus which has inspired me - must tune in more often.

I too like one liners, so much can be said.
Good write, I will have to get you a folder for those stray sheets.

Can you get a red one please - I'm in a sort of red mood today.

A fine write and pic Michael. Well , I use sherry bottle label if I can't find any paper around!

        • Michael Edwards

Do you empty the bottle first? 🙂

          The moving hand doth write
          and having writ moves on
          alas so does the paper
          I've just written on
          Basdillion Bronco will not do
I've flushed the bugger down the LOO

It happens to the best of us
          and even APPLES self delete

          Always remember a POEM is::
Any words in any order (Morcombe & Wiseman)

Love the visual LONDON BUS meets TELEPHONE BOX !

You most astute COMMENTATOR ~ BRIAN

If you've got any spare loo paper can you let Orchidee have some - he's just had to drink all the sherry so he use the bottle label.

As for the painting I thought it was more like: Goat Butts Man up Bum but I'll take another look..

Oh too true my friend. I lose lots of fragmented thoughts this way.

            • Michael Edwards

My biggest frustration is when something comes to mind when I am doing something else (like this morning when I was cutting back ivy) and by the time I get pencil and paper out I've forgotten it.

            • FredPeyer

As are the thoughts popping up at inopportune moments!
              Great on-liner Michael.

              Great picture,

            • P.H.Rose

              Couldn't agree with you more
              Michael ... Love the pic
              I see a bull fighter....
              His cape moving over and
              Under the bull

              • Michael Edwards

Goat? Bull? Yes I can see the bull idea - a sorta smallish sort of bull - but a bull!

                • P.H.Rose

I ment the bull fighter and his cape
Swishing over and under the bull
                  It's movement I see Michael..
                  Love it..

One line, less is more! wow. excellent. I think we've all been doing the stray sheets as poets. Thank heaven for word processing, i now have a hard drive full of scraps.

                • Suresh

Like thoughts lost in a fleeting moment -

                  Happens to me quite often
