All Washed Up

WriteBeLight

Oh, kitchen sponge,

Cleanse thyself.

Try turning yourself,

Inside out.

A great job you do,

Just done so well.

But, after a while,

Boy! You smell!

You clean the dishes,

Frying pan, too.

Has to be something,

To clean up you.

I’ve tried bleach,

I’ve tried strong soap.

I guess I’ll just,

Throw you out.

We’ve had fun,

Great cleaning's been had.

Tossing you away,

Makes me sad.

But, it’s time to go,

You’re disgusting and dark,

Off to the store,

A new sponge in my cart.

Oh, don’t you look,

At me that way.

This new sponge will,

Look like you someday.

I wonder how many sponges we have in our lives. Good fun write.

    • WriteBeLight

I would have to research that one. Just as long as they are not the people-kind! 🙂 Thanks Goldfinch!

A lifting write - I also use them for painting (art type painting that is - and also scrub buds).

        • WriteBeLight

I remember doing that in art class as a kid! Loved it. I was surely not as talented as you Michael! But, you remind me of a happy time in school. Thanks Michael 🙂

A fine write WBL lol. Much more of this and I shall be feeling sorry for the lamp-post on a wet day. I shall bring it indoors, or get a 15 foot umbrella for it - or however tall lamp-posts are! heehee.

HA HA very funny orchidee. Thanks!

Great sponge/cleaning/throwing out/shopping poem. Am sure that with just a little bit of digging I would find metaphors for all kind of life situations here! Imagination at its best.

              • WriteBeLight

You got it Fred! Thanks for the comment. I feel like I am always cleaning up after everyone. No one has tried to throw me out, though. Thank goodness 🙂

                • FredPeyer

Nobody is stupid enough to throw out the cheap help! 🙂
