Clocks and Calendars

WriteBeLight

Can we live without,

Our calendars and clocks?

Keeping tabs on our lives,

In time, days and months.

I love the time and clocks,

And, my watch collection.

Colorful bands and faces,

Of which I’ve much affection.

But, wouldn’t it be nice?

To bank all of their time?

Use it as I please,

Every minute’s mine.

I’d take as long as I want,

To do what needs to be done.

Save the most of all,

For the days I choose for fun.

But, it doesn’t work that way,

Time keeps marching on.

Same minutes, hours each day,

Overnight, sunrise, sundown.

Yet, still wish I could.

This, I hold so dear.

To have endless hours,

In moments with you, near.

Great thought and a great write - I think it may have inspired a limerick - in fact it has:

    A Welshman from The Gower
got looks from his boss quite sour
    β€˜Don’t do it again’
    was his bosses refrain
so he put back his watch by an hour

I love limericks! Very funny. Thanks Michael.

Sorry - the third line should have read: 'Don't be late again'

        Heigh Ho !!

Good write. I have a theory that we never want to know the actual time, what we want to know is how close it is to another time.

I like that thought Goldfinch. We should really just live in the moment πŸ™‚

"Time is relative", and some relatives aren't worth our time. Good write on the subject, WBL!

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

HI ANGEL ~Time and tide wait for no Man but Man always waits for Woman. I never wear a watch because deadlines are of much less use than lifelines. Jim Reeves hated to be late for a Concert ~ but he hadn't reckoned with the slowness of travel in Ireland ! One evening he arrived at Midnight for a Concert in Knock scheduled for 7:30pm ! BUT being Ireland the audience has sat patient and greeted JIM as if it was only 7:30 ! Jim learned something that night and his life was less frenetic thereafter. The one thing I have is plenty of time (@33 I'm only a third through my life) I don't get Β£24 every day but I do get 24 hours ! However quality time with one's Love does fly ! Lovely poem ~ thanks for raising the concept ! Time for a Hug ~ BRIAN

Appreciate your comment Brian. That was wonderful of the Irish to wait for Reeves. Glad he learned from the experience. Time waits for no one, but the audience waited for Jim! Thanks Dear Brian!

Inspired thinking in this appeal for more time with the one we love - - a delight to read.
