THE VOLUME OF THE PLANET MARS IS ONLY 15% THAT OF THE EARTH
If we start our MARS colony ~ with one thousand Souls
We'll have to live underground ~ like rabbits & moles
MARS is 140 milion miles away
So you can't get there and back in a day !
To travel that far ~ with all your gear
Will take you at least ~ a half of a Year !
When you arrive ~ with Wife Son & Daughter
There ain't no air to breath ~ an' no runnin' water
No SUPERMERCADOS ~ stocked up with food
No Houses or Flats to shelter your brood !
No Roads & no Cars ~ to travel around
No Birds & no Bees ~ just barren red ground,
BUZZ ALDRIN ~ says don't worry ~ if you want to stay
We'll melt ice and make water and O2 ~ OK !
Turn Regolith to soil and grow rice an' peas
Keep chucks for eggs ~ an' plant Apple Trees
I don't know who'll finance it ~ TRUMP's already said
"Ah don't want the fifty~first State to be RED !"
Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN XOX
The colonistion is set for 2050 and tickets will be one way !
Already 100's of Young American Scientists have voluntered
to ~ Make Mars Great Again ! Would you volunteer for MARS ?
This poem is presented as three sextets of Rhyming Couplets.

A fine write Brian. It's a yummy galaxy - with the galaxy itself, mars bars, milky ways! Does the No.7 bus go to Mars? Nope, some equally nutty person replied: It's the No.11 bus that goes to Mars!
Ohhhhhh STEVE have you lost your SOLARBUS timetable already ? It's Mercury (No. 1) Venus (No. 2) Earth (No. 3) and Mars (No. 4) ~ OK Scheduled for 2500 (too late for some !) Buzz Aldrin envisages a monthly No. 4 Shuttle Bus Service to Mars after 2050. They plan to send Trump on a one-way-ticket to be President of Mars and let PENCE take over as President of the USA ! Watch this space ~ BRIAN ~ UK Ambassador to MARS !
Love your poem, Brian. It is a fascinating subject, indeed. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks LOUIS ~ Thanks for your comment. Please see my comment to KAT for more details of the MISSION to MARS ~ BRIAN
I read your comment to Kat, and agree that trying to colonize another planet, at least not one in our solar system, is a feasible long-term solution. To me, the solution lies in mastering living in space, as more advanced species have done and are doing. Any planet is going through a slow death process ... space is timeless.
I'm not going to Mars. I would go to any other planet in our solar system though.
They can have fun, but I doubt the trip would go well for them.
Nice write sir. Well played.
Thanks NICHOLAS ~ Interesting choice all the other planets are even less habitable than MARS !
NASA and the other groups are determined to instigate a Manned Flight to Mars between 2035 & 2050 with a view of establishing a permanent manned base on the Planet.
Please see my comment to KAT for more details of the feasibility of a Mars Colony ~ YOURS BRIAN
Oh Yes my friend - - -Red Mars ready for it first pioneers sans everything they will need to keep them alive - - this has to be one of your best light-hearted messages on serious subjects and so full of interest. Love the flow in those rhyming couplets. First class writing again Brian.
Thanks FAY ~ As usual ~ you have grasped the essence of my message in this poem ~ Yours as ever BRIAN
Fine write! 🙂
Thanks LIZZY ~ pleased you enjoyed it ! Please check today's poem ~ Thanks B.
Good write Brian but I do tend to agree with Outback and see if we can get passed the coming Monday.
Being a Trekkie I have already beamed to Mars, had a wander around but could not find Spock so I beamed back.
Thanks ANDY ~ Yours and Steve's is a common Mantra ~ CARPE DIEM and let Tomorrow take care of itself ! Perhaps a prerequisite for those who would wish to join the MARS MISSION is that they should be DEDICATED TREKKIES ! Despite his distinctive ears SPOCK can be a little elusive. Please check my Poem for Sunday THE HOLY SPIRIT ~ Which takes us beyond Space and into the Spiritual Dimension ~ BRIAN
